At every period India has been producing women who brought her fame at the world

level. Indian women proved their caliber in various walks of life at the world level and
became inspirational to the women folk of India.
Indian women in every age / period has proved their caliber and showed the world that
Indian women are not just confined to the kitchens but given a chance they too can show
outstanding performances in their respective fields. These women have contributed much
at the international level and made their Motherland proud of her daughters.

With the help of these social reformes, the women of India slowly started recognizing
their true potential. She started questioning the rules laid down for her by the society. As
a result, started breaking barriers and earned a respectable position in the world. Today
Indian women have excelled in each and every field from social work to visiting space.
There is no arena, which remained unconquered by Indian women, be it politics, sports,
entertainment, literature or technology.
ARUNDHATI ROY
Suzanna Arundhati Roy born 24 November 1961) is an Indian author. Roy is a cousin
of prominent media personality Prannoy Roy, the head of the leading Indian TV media
group NDTV She lives in Delhi.Early in her career, Roy worked for television and
movies.Roy began writing her first novel, The God of Small Things, in 1992, completing
it in 1996, which won the Man Booker Prize for Fiction in 1997. This novel became the
biggest-selling book by a nonexpatriate Indian author. The award carried a prize of about
US$30,000. She is also a political activist involved in human rights and environmental
causes.Roy was awarded the Sydney Peace Prize in May 2004 for her work in social
campaigns and her advocacy of non-violence.In November 2011, she was awarded the
Norman Mailer Prize for Distinguished Writing. Roy was featured in the 2014 list of
Time 100, the 100 most influential people in the world
Kiran Bedi (born 9 June 1949) is an Indian politician, social activist, former tennis
player and a retired police officer. Bedi joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1972,
becoming its first woman officer. After joining IPS, Bedi served in Delhi, Goa and
Mizoram. She started her career as a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in
Chanakyapuri area of Delhi, and won the President's Police Medal in 1979. Next, she
moved to West Delhi, where she brought a reduction in crimes against women.
Subsequently, as a traffic police officer, she oversaw traffic arrangements for the 1982
Asian Games in Delhi. Bedi became the first woman to be appointed the United Nations

civilian police adviser. She resigned in 2007, to focus on social activism and writing. She
has written several books, and runs the India Vision Foundation. During 200811, she
also hosted a court show Aap Ki Kachehri. She was one of the key leaders of the 2011
Indian anti-corruption movement, and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in January 2015.

Mangala Narlikar
One of the few female mathematics researchers in India, Mangala Narlikar describes
herself as a part-time scientist. She finished a Ph.D. in mathematics 16 years after she got
married, putting household responsibilities before her career. She has taught at University
of Mumbai and University of Pune and finds joy in making mathematics interesting for
students who dread the subject. Switching between complex mathematics and simple
arithmetic is not possible for many, yet you can find her sitting on the lawn of her house,
teaching maths to their servants children.
LATA MANGESHKAR
Lata Mangeshkar (born 28 September 1929) is an Indian singer, and occasional musiccomposer. She is one of the best-known and most respected playback singers in India
Mangeshkar's career started in 1942 and has spanned over seven decades. She has
recorded songs for over a thousand Hindi films and has sung songs in over thirty-six
regional Indian languages and foreign languages, though primarily in Marathi and Hindi.
She is the elder sister of singers Asha Bhosle, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar
and Meena Mangeshkar. She is the second vocalist, after M. S. Subbulakshmi, to have
ever been awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour.In the same year, she
established the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune, managed by the Lata
Mangeshkar Medical Foundation. In 2005, she designed a jewellery collection called
Swaranjali, which was crafted by Adora, an Indian diamond export company. Five pieces
from the collection raised 105,000 and the money was donated for the 2005 Kashmir
earthquake relief..

MARY KOM
Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom (born 1 March 1983), also known as MC Mary
Kom, or simply Mary Kom,[1] is an Indian boxer. She is a five-time World Amateur
Boxing champion, and the only woman boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six
world championships.[2] Nicknamed "Magnificent Mary", she is the only Indian woman
boxer to have qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, competing in the flyweight (51
kg) category and winning the bronze medal.[3] She has also been ranked as No. 4 AIBA
World Women's Ranking Flyweight category.[4] She became the first Indian woman
boxer to get a Gold Medal in the Asian Games in 2014 in Incheon, South Korea.[5]
NEETA AMBANI
Born on November 1, 1965, grew up in the suburbs of Mumbai , hails from a middleclass family. Her father was a senior executive in Birla. She has always had a keen
interest in Indian classical dance and wanted to pursue a career in dance. She now holds

qualifications as a teacher and an interior designer. She is also a commerce graduate from
Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics.Nita Ambani is an Indian
businesswoman and the founder and chairperson of the Dhirubhai Ambani International
School. She is married to industrialist Mukesh Ambani.She is actively involved in various
philanthropic activities in the fields of education, human resources and disaster relief.Nita
Ambani also is the co-owner of the Mumbai Indians cricket team and is actively involved
in Project Drishti, a social initiative taken by Reliance Industries (RIL) and National
Association for the Blind.

Maharani Chakravorty (b. 1937) scientist


Maharani Chakravorty is a molecular biologist. She organized the first laboratory
course on recombinant DNA techniques in Asia and the Far East in 1981. After her postdoctoral studies in the USA, she returned to the Bose Institute in Kolkata.
Maharani Chakravorty recalls taking her infant along to her workplace.
The poor child used to sit on the rubber sheet spread on the floor of the
laboratory playing with test tube stands, right there in front of my working
bench.
Among her many accolades, she also received the Professor Darshan Ranganathan
Memorial Award in 2007.
