Annual Report

2014

North Capitol Main Street, Inc.

Dear Friends and Supporters of North Capitol Main Street

It is with tremendous pride and pleasure that we release this annual report for the year 2014.
Many doubted that it would be possible, but a small group of determined residents and business
owners believed in the potential of this great organization.
At the beginning of last year, we found ourselves not in the best of health as an organization. We
spent the first two quarters making sure that our infrastructure was in place, both physically and
financially, so that we could begin to serve our businesses with a solid foundation. It was a
daunting task but within six months, we were able to regain our accreditation and fully restore our
funding with the Department of Small and Local Business Development.
We have not looked back since. We've held record setting events for this area, awarded an
unprecedented amount of grant funding directly to our businesses and have been a powerful voice
in the city as we advocate on behalf of the business owners within our corridor. It is not lost on us
that as the area is seeing the rebirth of North Capitol Main Street, we are also seeing an uptick in
development activity and opening of new businesses along the corridor as well.
We welcome your support and participation as we continue to expand. By supporting this
organization either financially or by volunteering you will be greatly enhancing this community, its
businesses and residents. We are looking forward to even greater growth and the opportunity to
continue to serve you at an even greater capacity. Please continue to meet us in North Capitol DC!

ART ALL NIGHT

Art Soiree is a Washington, DC

based organization that is
committed to curating, conceiving
and realizing contemporary art
exhibitions, festivals and art
projects. Art Soiree was founded
in 2009 by dynamic duo Sandro &
Tati, and has since presented over
300 unique exhibitions and
programs featuring over 400
contemporary artists, and
bringing together close to 150,000
attendees. The company has also
represented D.C. artists at a
number of national and
international art showcases such
as Art Basel Miami 2012 and
SXSW 2013. @ArtSoiree

EVENTS

North Capitol Main Street was proud to

partner with Art Soiree to produce Art
All Night: Nuit Blanche DC at North
Capitol. From 7pm 3am, one night
only, North Capitol street was activated
with live performances, graffiti art,
video screenings, whimsical creations,
live painting, body art and light
installations that transformed three
massive outdoor spaces into the
ultimate mash up of cultural and urban
arts experiences. With three incredible
spaces, there was something for
everyone and more than enough to keep
you entertained. We estimated that
over 4,000 people attended the event
and we had over 70 artists, many of
them who reside within our
neighborhood. Art All Night was funded
by the DC Commission on the Arts and
Humanities.
