Introduction to Project Management Institute (PMI)
Established in 1969 and headquartered outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, the
Project Management Institute (PMI) was founded in 1969 by five volunteers. The
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania USA issued Articles of Incorporation for PMI which
signified the official inception of the organization. During that same year, the first
PMI Seminars ^ Symposium was held in Atlanta, Georgia USA and had an attendance
of 83 people.
With over 100,000 members worldwide, PMI is the leading nonprofit professional
association in the area of Project Management.
Certification
Since 1984 PMI has been dedicated to developing and maintaining a rigorous,
examination-based professional certificate program to advance the project
management profession and to recognize the achievements of individuals in project
management PMIs Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is the
worlds most recognized professional credential for individuals associated with
project management. In 1999, PMI became the first organization in the world to have
its Certification Program attain International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
9001 recognition.
Demand
Today, there are approximately 70,000 PMPs worldwide. That number is projected to
grow to 100,000 by the end of 2005. This may seem like a very large number.
However, when you compare it to the 16 million professionals actively employed in
project management today, it represents only a very small percentage.
What does it mean to be a PMP?
The PMP credential signifies elite standing in the profession. PMPs typically
command salaries 10 15% higher than on-certified project managers. PMPs are
held to high ethical standards and must demonstrate continuing commitment to their
profession. The PMP credential signifies a demonstrated adequate baseline
knowledge and experience level to practice modern project management within the
profession.

What are the eligibility criteria?
With the bacaloureate degree, PMP candidates are preferred to:
Document about three years experience in project management,
including at least 4,500 hours experience within the five recognized
project management process group.
Certification

PMP Examination
The four-hour PMP examination is administered via computer at designated testing
centers.
Course Outline
New Frontiers is offering the PMP exam preparation course. The duration for the
course is eight working days, spread over two weeks. The final step in becoming a
certified PMP is passing a multiple-choice examination designed to objectively assess
and measure your project management knowledge.

examination.
REGISTRATION FEES
Course attendance only: KD 590/- per participant (Five Hundred & Ninety Kuwaiti
Dinars), includes course materials, coffee break & lunch.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Registration which has been confirmed by New Frontiers and then cancelled by
the participants a month prior to the starting date of the course, are liable for a
cancellation fee of KD 59/-. Confirmed participants who do not notify New
Frontiers in advance, that they are unable to attend are liable for registration
fee.
