Happy Birthday Kathleen Leo, Class of 1969!

Hi,
We are in Memphis tonight after spending the afternoon at Elvis' home, called Graceland, which was quite
lovely. It's a big operation in the area with museums
and memorabilia and photos of him and his friends and
family all inbuildings like a mall...even got to see his
airplane and his smaller jet...and all of his car collection!
What a place! Nice folks work there and it was well
worth the time and price. On to Branson, MO tomorrow. It will take about 5 hrs. drive time to get there.
We'll be there several days and see some shows and the
area before moving on.

A note sent to George Wink...

I sent a large file to you yesterday via Securely Send. It's a

compilation of the photos you wanted scanned from the
1970 Yearbook you so graciously sent me. I went through
all the pages twice and included all that had writing from
your former friends and teachers. I actually scanned the
full page then cropped each individual photo. Let me know
if that's what you wanted. I've used the yearbook several
times already.
Thanks again Bob
Bob,
I received the file you sent me on Friday. The pages are
perfect. Thank you for taking the time to scan and crop
them. I am glad I was able to make a small contribution
to your yearbook collection and your ability to put a
face (albeit from years ago) to a name.
Kind regards,
George

I have not been getting the

newsletter for the past
several months and think it is
because I have a new email
address. Could you please
change my email to

how to do this.
Thank you.

Joyce,
I have updated your email address for you. Unless you
notify us about any email change, our announcements will
(of course) continue to be delivered to the latest email
address we have for you in our database.

haven't missed them because they're all archived clear back

Dear Hicksville High School Alumni & Friends

We can go to the Memorials at the Junior High Schooland seeplaques that contain the names of those who
served in the military during World War I, World War II and the Korean War. There is, also, a mini area that is
dedicated to Southeast Asia. Many of the names on those plaques echothenames offuture family memberswho
served subsequent to their Moms or Dads, Aunts and Uncles and cousins.Manyof us participated in a not too
popular war, Vietnam.Thosewho served neverhad the "welcomehome" feeling experienced by the veterans of
other conflicts.
The completion of anew "memorial wall" tohonor all who served in Vietnam and at othermilitary theaters
worldwide during the Vietnam era just might provide the much needed closure.
How many of you were drafted into the army and went to Vietnam without your blessing? LOL You couldn't say
nobecause ofrespect and love for the United States, the greatest nation in the world. You went without reservation and served admirably.
Remember thegoal...to memorialize those who participated in the Vietnam Era by constructing a Memorial at
the "Hicksville Veterans Memorial Park" located at the former Jerusalem AvenueJunior High School, now
Hicksville Middle School, that will bear the names of those who served. The followingvideo is designed to
acquaint the Hicksville Community with the memorials that are alreadythere.Highlightedaresome former
studentswho deserverecognition. The only thing missing...funds required to complete the project. Everything
else is in queue and ready to go.Please help convert the goal to reality.

Hicksville High School Military Alumni Video:

https://youtu.be/v_26pgnSICM

Please send a contribution to the committee and don't think that only large donations will result in the culmination of the memorial construction. A couple of bucks ($1 - $2 - $3)from many will help the committee realize the
goal that they have worked so hard to see realized. Please send your personal contribution that will help this
dream come true. Many thanks to those who have already responded!

A note to Bill Walden from Joe...

Please send me your fund raising spreadsheet for the end

of May. I never received it, even though you said you sent
it. Welcome home and hope you had a good time in
Pensacola.
Joe
Had great time in Pensacola.
Received "Lifetime Achievement" Award from the organization. Was a great honor.
Attached is the latest numbers
including a donation I
received yesterday. Also
attached are the forms we
used to re-register back in
2009. I just downloaded them
from the NY State Attorney
General Charities Bureau. Take a look at them. If you
want, I can fill in as much information I know and then
mail them to you for completion and your signature.
Let me know.
FYI - Last night I attended the Hicksville High School's
fund raiser for the Wounded Warrior Project. They
raised $10,000 in one night. I sat with/spoke with
Superintendent Bonuso and High School Principal
Williams. Laid more ground work for our memorial
with both of them.Spoke withPrincipal Williams for
over an hour, after the event was over about the
HixNews website, the aemorial, and the video done by
Bob. If possible, once video is tweaked, if I could get a

hard copy that would be excellent.

Testing is underway at schools right now so I think our
window has closed until fall, but I will keep a high
profile with them over summer. Will keep everyone
updated.

Bill
Hi Bill!
Congratulations on receiving the Lifetime Achievement
Award from the VFW! That's a tremendous honor and I'm
sure your family is very proud of you and your Dad would
be popping buttons if he were still here. And here I
thought you were in Pensacola justfor vacation.
We should talk before going any further on filing fortax
exempt approval from NY State. I'll give you a call soon on
this. Thanks too for the latest spreadsheet. Fred Fischer
lives near me and I saw him the other day and he told me
he had sent in a donation.
I'm intrigued by HHS' fundraiser for the WW Project and
will discuss further with you on the phone also.
Best regards,
Joe
Congrats Bill. A Lifetime Achievement Award is quite an
honor especially when presented by agreat organization. I made the change when I saw your note and am
now recording the video again to be put up on You
Tube. Then I can send a note to the Google Group and
we go from there. Hope this helps generate some
funds. I will snail mail a copy on DVD tomorrow. Let's
keep our fingers crossed that we can get closer to our
goal.
buffalo bob
Thanks for all your help, Bob! We will look forward to
the Google Group distribution and let you know how
much it helps an increase in donations. Currently,
through 6/3/15, Bill Walden reports a total of $5,855.85.
The odd amount came from a collection of nearly $850
from the Hicksville Veterans Memorial Committee.

Dear Bob:
What a heartfelt (and heartbreaking) tribute to our classmates who gave their lives for all
of us. I was crying all the way
through this wonderful and
inspiring video. God bless and
keep them in His care. Bob, you
are a good person to have put
this together. Thank you so
much for reminding us what we
have because of these brave people.

Hi Bob!
I was away this past week, so
just now looked at the Memorial Day presentation. Well
done, as it truly honors our
many Veterans!!
All the best,
Joe Carfora 1962

It was a very touching and

admirable tribute, but you have
the wrong picture for my
brother - Carl Kozma, in the
video. I really did not go
through the rest of the page so I
am not sure if all of the information listed for him is accurate. It
was heartbreaking not to see
this misinformation - especially
on U-Tube - the information is already out there and is
wrong. But thanks anyway for the site.
Margaret Kozma Ryan 1967
Margaret,
My bad... So sorry for the screw up. I had your brother's
pictures; high school graduation and one in uniform and I
wound up adding
Bill Kozma's photo in
error. I was probably
being overly cautious
not wanting to make
any mistakes for
something that is
special to me, honoring our fallen heroes,
and I screwed it up
big time. I cannot
change that video. I can post a new one after making
changes but that won't change what now appears. You
are the first one to catch the error and this video has been
viewed almost 1,000 times. Sorry.
love yah... buffalo bob casale
Bob
I understand that we are all human and mistakes are
made. You do a great job on this website and I don't
want to make waves. It was a shock when I went
through the video and saw someone else's picture. I
only wish that his picture didn't have to be there in the
first place - it still hurts! But thanks for the correction
and keep up the great work.
Margaret
p.s. Justas an added note - no one has ever made mention that my brother was a "Screaming Eagle" - a member
of the 101st Airborne and very proud of it. In fact he was
scheduled to be transferred there. If he wasn't killed he
would have transferred the following week.

Watch your age in the upper right corner! Kinda fun to watch your
age go up and down as you answer the questions. Now this is
interesting, give it a try. How long will you live? This is a calculator
that estimates your life expectancy. It was developed by
Northwestern Mutual Life. It's interesting that there are only 13
questions. Yet, they can predict how long you're likely to live.

This is a terrific test. And it shows results in a number of ways. It

surely indicates that the majority of Americans don't know what's
going on.
It's astonishing that so many people got less than half right. The
results say that 80% of the (voting) public doesn't have a clue, and
that's pretty scary.
There are no tricks here - a simple test to see if you are current on
your information.
This is quite a good quiz and the results are somewhat shocking.
Test your knowledge with the challenge of 13 questions, then be
ready to shudder when you see how others did:
