Pink Floyds The Wall is one of the most

intriguing and imaginative albums in the history
of rock music. The Wall was written almost
entirely by Roger Waters (principal songwriter
and conceptual leader of Pink Floyd band) and is
largely based on his life story. Since the studio
album's release in 1979, the tour of 1980-81,
and the subsequent movie of 1982, the Wall has
become synonymous with, if not the very
definition of, the term "concept album." Aurally
explosive on record, astoundingly complex on
stage, and visually explosive on the screen, the
Wall traces the life of the fictional protagonist,
Pink Floyd, from his boyhood days in post-WorldWar-II England to his self-imposed isolation as a
world-renowned rock star, leading to a climax
that is as cathartic as it is destructive . The Wall
by Pink Floyd that centres on a character called
Pink who encounters obstacles throughout his
life, beginning with the loss of his father during
World War II, continuing with abuse from his
schoolteachers, an overprotective mother, and
the desertion of his wife, drugs all of which
contribute to Pink's self-imposed isolation from
society, represented by the metaphorical wall
of the album title (hence the famous line: All in
all you're just another brick in the wall)
As with the other songs on The Wall, Mother
tells a portion of the story of Pink, the album's
protagonist. The song narrates a conversation
between Pink and his mother, and is
undoubtedly tragic and heartbreaking in the
apparent calmness and normality with which the
mother tells her son how she is going to keep
him away from danger. Pink opens up to his
mother, looking for help and advice. He tells her
