A total of 15,485 seats are available. Half the seats are reserved for home state
students.

Admission to NITs will be based on 40% weightage for performance in Class XII board/
equivalent examination marks (normalized) and the remainder 60% weightage would be
given to performance in JEE Main and a combined All India Rank (AIR) would be decided
accordingly.

Admission criteria to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, Other Centrally

Funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by participating State Governments .

13 lakh students have writted the JEE main 2014

Normalisation procedure is used to determine the scores. Each institution give a

different weightage to board score and JEE Main score

The 5 subjects used for normalisation of the board score are a) Language b) Physics c) Mathematics
d) Any elective from Chemistry,Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational subject
e) Any other subject

If the student has appeared in 6 subjects ( PU syllabus ) then the better score among
subjects e and f is taken into consideration. This is the advantage of opting for PU
Syllabus versus CBSE.

The candidates who have scored the top 1,50,000 ranks in JEE Main Paper-1 (B. E./B.
Tech.) exam are eligible to write the JEE advanced exam..

The States of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Nagaland and Odisha have joined JEE (Main) system.

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana scholarshipWhat is this examination ?

Initiated by the Govt of India to encourage students of the Sciences,

Engineering and Medicine to take up careers in research in these fields.

Eligibility criterea - Studying in Class XI standard to 1st year in any

undergraduate Program in Basic Sciences namely
B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. in Mathematics, Physics,
Chemistry and Biology having aptitude for scientific research.

Special groups / committees are set up at IISc, to screen the applications

and conduct an aptitude test at various centres in the country.

Based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students are

called for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure.

For receiving a fellowship, both aptitude test and interview marks are
considered.

Generous scholarships are provided up to the pre-Ph.D. level to the selected

KVPY Fellows.
