The proposed situation is located to the

Southeast on the border between the
consolidated city of Burgos and the rural land. It
has town planning problems to be solved, such
as its location next to the current railway line (to
be removed) and next to a high-speed ring road
(Ronda Sur); furthermore, it does not continue
with the urban layout of the adjacent
consolidated quarters.

The land runs from the bank of the Arlanzn and

the Parque de la Quinta park to the north, to the
N-I Madrid-Irn main road to the south. An
attempt is made to relate to the adjacent
quarters of El Crucero to the west and San Pedro
Crdena to the north, in order to investigate
social practice on the scale of the quarter. To the
Southeast there is a pocket of residential land to
be urbanised which could give continuity to the
ideas of the competition.

Programme
The building typology can be mixed: an apartment
block or single-family dwellings, in order to
investigate the typological innovation on the scale
of the habitat. The compatibility of uses serves to
analyse the monofunctionality of the residential
space or the demand for social life in the quarter
on an urban scale. The proximity to two urban
parks and to rural land, and the solution to the
impact caused by the train and the road, promote
the urban coherence and environmental quality of
the sustainable processes.

functional : A nebulous city should be transformed to create new quarters,

investigating typology of dwelling, searching for the diversification of the space in

order to favour social life and the urban and environmental coherence.

social : There is a need to look for a relationship with the adjacent quarters of El

Crucero and San Pedro Crdena, for social intercourse on the scale of the quarter
and interrelationships with consolidated residential areas and different typologies.

perceptual : The limits of the urban fabric should be studied, paying special

attention to the physical realityas special topography, train-road barrier, adjacent

consolidated quarters, urban parks, developable and rural land.
