About the speakers

CA. Murali Narayanamurthy

Mr. Murali Narayanamurthy manages the initiatives around

Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) for India. He is
responsible for the GRC Business Development activities to
ensure product portfolio success, including customer satisfaction,
product evangelism, partner development and sales support.
With over 15 years of work experience, Murali has performed
various roles that include Statutory/ Management/ Internal Audit
& Advisory Service, ERP Implementations, Business Process
Re-engineering, Presales and Business Development. Murali is a
qualified Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant and a BCom
graduate from the University of Mumbai.

Mrs Padmaja is a Strategic Management Consultant, Mentor &

Guest Faculty. Her focus areas include Strategic Management of
IT & Business Strategy, Managing Sales & Marketing and Sales
Operations functions, Leadership Mentoring for Technology
Products & Services companies, Corporate Planning, Leading and
Mentoring teams for Strategic Initiatives and New Business
Development, Corporate Communications and CSR programs.
Padmaja brings with her strong industry expertise spanning more
than thirty years as a business leader, mentor and innovator in the
Technology industry.

Padmaja has always been actively associated with the Top Management team and led
Strategy, Business Development and Sales & Marketing functions in IT services, process
re-engineering, product innovation initiatives along with global sourcing & delivery agenda.
Padmaja is a Founder Director at Emerging Edges Consultants Private Ltd. She also
engages as an independent consultant and mentor working with C level leaders of MNC
and SME segments in the areas of Business and Product Strategy, Corporate Leadership
Mentoring of sales and marketing teams, improving Operational Efficiency in Sales,
Partnership models for Sales, Sales enablement, Process & Technology Transformation,
Global Sourcing & Service delivery practices.
Padmaja led the Technology Integration track on behalf of the CIOs office, as an
independent Technology Consultant for a high profile international sports event. She
successfully managed the outsourcing partners and Technology Integration process with
her strategic leadership, effective communications and process orientation skills to turn
around the challenging task despite aggressive schedules and unforeseen challenges.

Aligning IT Strategy with Business Strategy
One of the best measures for the success of an IT Strategy is
indicated by the degree of alignment of IT Strategy with the
Business Strategy of the organization. The success of any IT
Strategy starts with the Business Vision and a Road Map to move
(change) towards the business objectives and outcomes
Most organizations today have IT organization(s) or system(s) in
place that are not necessarily aligned with their business needs.

An assessment of their IT performance goals with respect to the business dimensions

becomes inevitable to get started. Best in class competition bench marks or global bench
marks are often an appropriate way to set the standards for both business and IT.
Strategic Management of IT (SMIT) will involve creation of an appropriate SMIT
organization and governance model that can support the creation, management and
execution of IT Strategy. SMIT ensures alignment of IT strategy with all the key business
systems & processes for optimization and standardization, visibility and tracking of
efficiency and cost parameters across operations to improve productivity. Frequent review
and fine tuning of IT strategy is recommended to accommodate the legitimate changes
needed for business alignment during the course of implementation.
