Description

The Works for this Contract includes the provision of all labor ,material and equipment and
doing of all things necessary for the Construction of Double Tracking between
Laksam and Chinki- Astana, which is a Sub-Project of the Dhaka-Chittagong
Railway Development Project under JBIC Loan( Loan Agreement No.BD-56).This subproject
site is located in the south-eastern region of Bangladesh and falls within the
administrative district of Chittagong,Feni and Comilla.The distance between Laksam and
Chinki-Astansa is approximately 61.5 km and includes 11 stations.Chinki-Astana is

Installation 1in12&1in5 Turnouts for 90A/75A rails: Final alignment of the turnouts were

checked and rectified.


Trap switches installation: Final alignment of the trap switches were checked and rectified.
SEJ Installation: Final alignment of SEJs were checked and rectified.
Top &Shoulder Ballasting (Final): From Ch: (19+800 to 21+300)km
Ballast profile & Boxing:From Ch: (19+800 to 21+300)km
Painting of Kilometer Post: From Ch: (00+450 to 16+000)km
Carpeting at LC Gate: Carpeting of LC Gate-E/39 at Fatehpur has been done.
Alignment on Turnouts,Trap Switches,SEJs,GIJs&Crossovers: Alignment on
turnouts,trap switches,SEJs,GIJs and Crossovers were doing by using manpower at
stations. (i)Hasanpur Down Line & Up Line+Xing of completed ,
(ii) Nangalkot Down Line &Up Line+Xing Completed and (iii) Laksam Down Line &Up
Line+Xing Completed.
Additional top ballasting for final ballasting: For Main from Ch: (00+442 to 21+265)km
Ultrasonic test on ATW:
From Ch: (21_454 to 27+624)km.
From Ch: (28+874 to 33+830)km
From Ch: (27+624 to 28+564)km
From Ch: (00+473 to 03+500)km

Final lifting,Tamping & Aligning:

50,000 gross Tons of traffic passes on Track:
Ballast track has been consolidated at total 50,000 gross tons by using load trains
and loading ballast wagon with locomotive pass over the track between the time of the
first lifting and the second tamping.
For Main Line from Ch: (00+442 to 61+697) km on going more loads.

From April19 to June 03 ,2015,Passenger Trains, Container Trains and Tank Trains passed
over the newly
loads ongoing from Laksam to Chinki Astana. According to the calculations
submitted.50,000 gross tons of traffic passed over the track by the above mentioned
Trains were completed and more loads ongoing from Laksam to Chinki Astana.
30,000 gross Tons of traffic passes on Track:
Ballast track has been consolidated at total 50,000 gross tons by using load trains
and loading ballast wagon with locomotive pass over the track between the time of the

Earthworks:

For most of the area snag list rectification works of Earthen embankment owing to
rain cuts, maintaining side slopes leveling and grade etc. not yet commenced.
Bridges & Culverts:

The progress of Snag list rectification works of Clearing of water ways of Bridges & Culverts is
very much slow.
Trackworks:

The contractor has not yet prepared, provided & submitted remaining required Final
Track Checklist for Joint Inspection with the consultants.
The contractor Track Team has to rectify so many LWR conversions to SWR, SWR
Gaps, the Alignment of the Turnouts/Crossings/Trap Switches/Level Crossing, etc.
The contractor has to finalize the remaining final alignment of Turnouts, Crossings,
Switch Traps, SEJs, GIJs and Level Crossings
Stations & Buildings:

Parking Area of Gunobati station was stopped by the local chairman and huge other
elites as they wanted entire BR lands for parking area.

Pahartali to Chinki Astana, all stations OFC termination was still remaining left.
One Switch with repeater functionality at Sitakundu station was not yet installed..
Back filling on hand hole was not yet done.
Marker Post at hand hole was not yet done
OFC Hand Holes Position lay-out with OFC route as-built drawing was not yet done.
4 Nos. of dark fiber (from Grameen Phone) was not yet connected.

The details of the work activities scheduled for the next month are as follows:
Earthworks:
Snag list rectification works of Earthen embankment owing to rain cuts, maintaining side
slopes leveling and Grade etc. will be continued.
Bridges & Culverts:
Snag list rectification works of Clearing of water ways of Bridges & Culverts will be continued.
Trackworks:
At Laksam Station Yard: Housekeeping or cleaning of contaminated ballast & fastening
system, debris of welded rails, Ballasting and hand packing ,Alignment turnouts, switch
expansion joints, trap switches, Glued Insulated Joints, cross overs,50,000 & 30,000 gross
tons of traffic passes by ballast trains over the track from Laksam to Chinki Astana,
Rectification at points & crossing and Collecting track materials to save stocks
At other stations: Alignment turnouts, switch expansion joints, trap switches, Glued
Insulated Joints, cross overs, Geometry check, track gauge, sleepers spacing & squaring,
fastening, fishplates, rail gaps, Ballast profiling, 50,000 & 30,000 gross tones of traffic
passes by ballast trains over the track from Laksam to Chinki Astana, Additional Top
ballasting from Chinki Astana to Feni & Feni to Laksam, Rectification works of KM/HM Posts &
Alignment Posts, Rectification at points & crossing, Rectification work at all level crossings
Recording rails temperature at New DN Track near Chinki Astana and Collect track materials

Safety
Issue

Rectification work according to punch list will be continued and UPS & Generator modification
will be continued.
Electrical Works: Rectification works will be continued as per punch list given to the
Special mandatory Safety Gears, such as the protectors for Eyes, Faces& Skin , Insulated
Rubber Hand Gloves & Safety Boots etc were supplied to all the workers for the particular
welding, electrical & erection work activities on site, for their Safety Assurance, but
unfortunately still so many workers were found not to ensure its compliances
The contractor must maintain Safety and security in the area where snag list rectification
works will be carried out for different works like earth works, bridge & culvert works, track
works, station & building works, signaling & telecommunication works and electrical works;
conducive working environmental with secured safety and security must be continuously
kept and maintained.
In the event that site welding is required the contractor should ensure that those engaged in
this activity are using correct welding equipment as supplied by a reputable manufacturer,
and that they are wearing appropriate protection for their eyes, faces and other exposed
