FELLOWSHIPS/SCHOLARSHIPS/STUDENTSHIPS/
STIPENDS AND LOANS AVAILABLE TO THE STUDENTS OF
THE ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY
General Conditions
1. All Fellowships and Studentships shall be credited to the Students account from where
awardees will be allowed to withdraw their credited balance according to rules (except for
Ph.D., foreign students, backward class and scheduled caste students).
2. Research students getting Fellowships or Research Scholarships shall cease to get the same if
they are appointed teachers in the University or its maintained institutions.
3. All Scholarships shall be tenable for the same number of the months for which tuition fee is
charged unless otherwise provided in these Regulations, provided always that 75% of
Scholarships of any description open to male candidates below the academic status of Master,
shall only be held by the students residing in the Halls of the University.
4. Scholarships which remain vacant under any particular category may be awarded to a student in
any other category.
5. Application for the Studentships and Scholarships other than Fellowships and Research
Scholarships must be submitted on the prescribed form to the Dean Students Welfare, by
September 15, through the Provost and/or the Chairman of the Department and Dean of the
Faculty concerned.
6. No student shall be awarded the University Merit Scholarship and the General Merit
Scholarship at the same time.
(i)

Unless expressly provided for in these Regulations or in the terms of some endowment, a
student shall not be awarded two Scholarships tenable during the same period.

(ii)

A merit-cum-means deserving student may be allowed to draw more than one Scholarship
tenable during the academic session provided that the total amount of award does not
exceed Rs.2,000/- per annum and that other conditions of the Scholarship awarded by the
outside agencies are also fulfilled. In case of award of University Scholarship, fee
concession (full or half freeship), may be ignored provided the total amount does not
exceed Rs.2,000/- per annum.

7. The following are the rules for the award of merit Scholarship in Persian, Arabic and Sanskrit:

Scholarship shall be awarded strictly on merit.


Scholarship shall be awarded strictly on the basis of a test in Senior Secondary School
Certificate, B.A. (Hons.) and M.A.

(iii) Those who are awarded the Scholarship of B.A. (Hons.) during first year shall receive the
Scholarship for the entire course, provided they secure at least second division marks in
the subject at the end of each year.
(iv) Those who get Scholarship in M.A. during the first year will get it for two years, provided
they secure at least second division marks in the subject at the end of each year.
(v) If a Scholarship falls vacant in B.A. (Hons.) after first year, a test shall be held. If there is
a vacancy in B.A. (Hons.) and M.A. after second and first year, respectively, the
Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of marks obtained in the Examinations just
preceding.
(vi) Half of the Scholarships will go to the Womens College at the Undergraduate level.
8. The term of all the Merit Scholarships based on Competitive test, and University Examination
Results in the Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Science, Life Sciences and Law shall initially
be for 11 months. If the Scholarship holder fails in the Examination or indulges in misconduct,
the Scholarship shall not be continued in subsequent years. The Scholarship falling vacant on
this account will be awarded to the toppers of the respective Examinations, in order of merit.
The Scholarships in Faculty of Medicine shall be tenable for 18 months instead of 11 months.

FELLOWSHIPS / RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIPS


(a)

U.G.C. RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS

U.G.C. Junior Research Fellowship such as Fellowship on any given time basis (in the
subject concerned as also Fellowship in the concerned Department available in any project like
Centre of Advanced Study, Department of Special Assistance, Departmental Research Support,
Research Project, etc.) will be awarded to those who have qualified the National Eligibility Test.
The value of Fellowship in the case of candidates qualifying in the National Eligibility Test and
registered for a research degree in an approved institution will be Rs.8,000/- p.m. as JRF. The
Fellowship will be raised to Rs.9,000/- p.m. as SRF, after rigorous evaluation of the work of the
scholar, on completion of period of two years. For JRF, the contingency grant is Rs.12,000/- per
annum in Science programmes and Rs.10,000/- per annum in Humanities and Social Sciences. For
SRF, the contingency grant is Rs.25,000/- per annum in Science programmes and Rs.20,000/- per
annum in Humanities and Social Sciences
(b)

CSIR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP


Junior and Senior Research Fellowships are awarded by the CSIR directly to those who
qualify CSIR-UGC Joint National Eligibility Test for 2/3 years, @ Rs.8,000/- and Rs.9,000/- p.m.,
respectively. Contingency grant of Rs.20,000/- per annum is also admissible to such awardees.
(c)

RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED BY OTHER BODIES


A few Research Scholarships at various rates/duration are also awarded by ICMR, ICHR
and ICAR, directly as per their terms and conditions.
DR. WALI MOHAMMAD SCHOLARSHIP
A few merit Scholarships are awarded to Muslim candidates joining research in
Experimental Physics at the Aligarh Muslim University or elsewhere, which includes Universities
or Research Centres abroad.

UNIVERSITY RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP/SCHOLARSHIP


Eligibility
Candidates with a Masters Degree in the First or High Second Division in the subject
concerned are eligible to apply for the Scholarships. Candidates having good academic record at the
earlier examinations will be preferred.
Selections
Selection for the award of Scholarships will be made by the Vice-Chancellor on the
recommendation of a Committee constituted for the purpose.
University Research Fellowships/Scholarships shall be awarded at the following rates:(a)

Rs.1,000/- p.m. for first two years and Rs.1,150/- p.m. thereafter.

(b)

The Fellowship shall terminate on completion of viva-voce for a Ph.D. degree or completion
of 5 years from the date of registration for M.Phil./Ph.D., whichever is earlier.

(c)

University Fellowships in each Department in the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences of
Rs.1,000/- p.m. awarded to a Ph.D. candidate holding a First Division Masters degree,
tenable for two years in the first instance but may be extended for another year.

(d)

One University Fellowship in the Centre of Strategic Studies in the Faculty of Social
Sciences of Rs.1,000/- p.m., tenable for two years in the first instance and extendable for
another year.

(e)

Fourteen University Fellowships in Science (including Faculty of Life Sciences) of


Rs.1,000/- p.m. each awarded to Ph.D. candidates holding a First Division Masters degree,
tenable for two years in the first instance but may be extended for another year.

(f)

One University Fellowship in Commerce of Rs.1,000/- p.m. awarded to a Ph.D. candidate


holding a First Division M.Com. degree, tenable for two years in the first instance but may
be extended for another year.

(g)

Two University Fellowships in Law of Rs.1,000/- p.m. each awarded to Ph.D. candidates
holding a First or Second Division L.L.M. degree, tenable for two years in the first instance
but may be extended for another year.

(h)

Two University Fellowships in Theology of Rs.1,000/- p.m. each awarded to Ph.D.


candidates holding a First or Second Division M.Th. degree, tenable for two years in the
first instance but may be extended for another year.

(i)

One University Research Scholarship of Rs.1,000/- p.m. for each subject in the Faculties of
Arts and Social Sciences awarded to Ph.D. candidate holding a First or Second division
M.A. degree, tenable for two years in the first instance but may be extended for another
year.

(j)

One Departmental Research Scholarship in the Centre of Strategic Studies in the Faculty of
Social Science of Rs.1,000/- p.m., tenable for two years in the first instance but may be
extended for another year.

(k)

One University Research Scholarship of Rs.1,000/- p.m. for each subject in the Faculty of
Science, awarded to Ph.D. candidates holding a First or Second division M.Sc. degree,
tenable for two years in the first instance but may be extended for another year.

(l)

One University Research Scholarship of Rs.1,000/- p.m. in Operational Research in the


Deptt. of Statistics, Faculty of Science, tenable for two years in the first instance but may be
extended for another year.

(m)

One University Research Scholarship of Rs.1,000/- p.m. in the Faculty of Commerce


awarded to a Ph.D. candidate holding a First or Second division M.Com. degree, tenable for
two years in the first instance but may be extended for another year.

(n)

One Departmental Research Scholarship of Rs.1,000/- p.m in the Faculty of Commerce


awarded to a Ph.D. candidate holding a First or Second division M.B.A. degree, tenable for
two years in the first instance but may be extended for another year.

(o)

One Research Scholarship of Rs.600/- p.m., tenable for the duration of the course, in each
language namely, Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu and Tamil (Total 5).

Applications for the Scholarships should be submitted to the Dean of the Faculty concerned.
The above Fellowships are awarded by the CASR of the Faculty concerned.
RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS IN MEDIVEAL INDIAN HISTORY
(a)

Two Sr. Research Fellowships of Rs.500/- p.m. plus Rs.1,000/- p. a. for contingency,
tenable for two years but may be extended for another year.

(b)

Two Jr. Research Fellowships of Rs.300/- p.m. plus Rs.1,000/- p. a. for contingency, tenable
for two years but may be extended for another year.

(c)

Four Research Scholarships of Rs.250/- p.m. for Ph.D. students, tenable for two years but
may be extended for another year.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR RESEARCH SCHOLARS


A Financial Assistance of Rs.1,000/- for typing and binding the dissertation will be awarded
to the deserving and needy research scholars out of the annual grant Rs.75,000/- for Financial
Assistance for Research Scholars.

FACULTY OF MEDICINE
POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA AND DEGREE COURSES
SCHOLARSHIPS / FELLOWSHIPS
UNDERGRADUATE (M.B.B.S.) SCHOLARSHIP
1.

To students passing the Competitive Admission Test and joining the First Year M.B.B.S.
class, four Scholarships, one of Rs.120/- p.m. and the rest of Rs.90/- per month, are awarded,
in order of merit, determined in selection.

2.

Four Scholarships, one of Rs.120/- p.m. and the rest of Rs.90/- per month, are awarded, in
order of merit, to students passing the First Year Examination and joining the Second year
M.B.B.S. class.

3.

Four Scholarships, one of Rs.120/- p.m. and the rest of Rs.90/- per month, are awarded, in
order of merit, to students passing the Second Year M.B.B.S. (First Professional)
Examination and joining the Third Year M.B.B.S. class.

4.

Four Scholarships, one of Rs.120/- p.m. and the rest of Rs.90/- per month, are awarded, in
order of merit, to students passing the Third Year M.B.B.S. Examination and joining the
Fourth Year M.B.B.S. class.

5.

Four Scholarships, one of Rs.120/- p.m. and the rest of Rs.90/- per month, are awarded, in
order of merit, to students passing the Fourth Year M.B.B.S. (Second Professional)
Examination and joining the Fifth Year M.B.B.S. class.

6.

ANWAR JAHAN BEGUM SCHOLARSHIP IN MEDICINE AND SURGERY


Two Scholarships each of the value of Rs.250/- p.m., tenable for 10 months, to be awarded to
the students, in order of merit, at the Entrance Examination of M.B.B.S., subject to condition
that the income of his/her parents/guardian does not exceed Rs.2,000/- p.m. The Scholarship
shall continue for the duration of the course, provided the recipient continues a good progress
in studies. The expenditure on the above shall be met out of the interest earned on the
donation made by Dr. Nasir Ahmad Khan.

7.

KHALIDA UMARUDDIN SCHOLARSHIP


One Scholarship of the value of Rs.100/- p.m., tenable for 10 months, to be awarded to a
student of M.B.B.S. Second Year who secures the highest marks in the First Professional
Examination, subject to the condition that the awardee is not in receipt of any other University
Merit Scholarship. Expenditure for the above shall be met out of the interest earned on the
donation made by Prof. Umaruddin.

8.

ZUBAIDA BEGUM MEMORIAL AND ANWAR HUSAIN SCHOLARSHIP


One Scholarship of Rs.100/- p.m., tenable for 18 months, to be awarded to a girl student of
M.B.B.S. First Professional who secures the highest marks in Biochemistry, provided the
monthly income of her parent/guardian does not exceed Rs.1,500/- p.m. and that she is not in
receipt of any other University Scholarship.

9.

RAFIA SULTAN SCHOLARSHIP


Two Scholarships/Stipends of the value of Rs.200/- p.m. each to be given to the poor and
meritorious Muslim students of the Faculties of Medicine and Engineering and Technology.

10.

SALIM SCHOLARSHIP
Five Scholarships of the value of Rs.250/- p.m. each, tenable for 10 months, to be awarded to
students of First, Second and Third Professional M.B.B.S. courses, out of the earnings on
investment donated by Mr. Irfan Salim.

11.

HAMEEDUDDIN KHAN SCHOLARSHIP


Two Scholarships of Rs.45/- p.m. each to be awarded every year to deserving Muslim
students of the Faculties of Medicine, Science, Life Science and Engineering and Technology.

15 Scholarships/Stipends of the value of Rs.500/- each, tenable for the duration of the course,
to be awarded to students of Nursing Course.

13.

MIR WILAYAT HUSSAIN EDUCATION TRUST FUND


Four Scholarships of the value of Rs.350/- p.m., tenable for 10 months, shall be awarded to
students securing highest marks at the Entrance Test from amongst the candidates selected for
admission to the B.D.S. Course, and students securing highest marks at each Professional
Examination of the B.D.S. Course (I to III Year).

14. SHRIMATI NIRMALA LAKHTAKIA CASH PRIZE


A cash prize of Rs.1000/- shall be awarded every year to a student securing highest marks at
the MBBS (F) Professional Part-II Examination of this University, out of the donation made
by Prof. H.S. Lakhtakia, former Chairman, Deptt. of Surgery, J.N.M.C., A.M.U., Aligarh.
15. NAJMUDDIN AHMAD SCHOLARSHIP
Five Scholarships of the value of Rs.120/- p.m. each, tenable for 11 months, shall be awarded
to students of MBBS course from I to V Year, out of the donation made by Mr. Najmuddin
Ahmad, 146-Brandon Road, Baltimore, MD-21212 (U.S.A.).
16.

MIR WILAYAT HUSAIN GOLD MEDAL


A Gold Medal will be awarded every year to a student securing highest marks at the B.D.S.
Final Year Examination.

17.

DR. SALMAN ALI GOLD MEDAL


The Gold Medal shall be awarded to M.S. (Orthopaedics) student who secures the highest
marks in Final Examination, and a Silver Medal be awarded to a student who secures the
second highest marks in Final Examination of Orthopaedics.

18.

YUSUF ALI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP


There is a provision of one scholarship entitled Yusuf Ali Memorial Scholarship of the
value of Rs.1,000/- p.m. for 10 months is to be awarded to MBBS IInd Professional at J.N.
Medicial College for the student who have passed all subject in first attempt at 1st
Professional examination with good marks/grades.

19.

PROF. SOHAIL AHMAD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP


There is a provision of one scholarship entitled Prof. Sohail Ahmad Memorial
Scholarship of the value of Rs.10,000/- per annum is to be awarded to MBBS IIInd
Professional (Microbiology) at J.N. Medical College for the student securing highest marks in
2nd Professional Examination in Microbiology.

20.

MAQSOOD HUSAIN KHAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:Lump-sum amount of Rs.18000/- to a poor and needy Muslim student of M.B.B.S. (I Year)

21.

HAJI MUKHTAR HUSAIN SCHOLARSHIP:One scholarship entitled Haji Mukhtar Husain Scholarshipto be awarded to a Muslim
student of M.B.B.S. II Prof. of the value of Rs.1000/-per month,tenable for 10 months is to be
awarded to the financial deserving student, who has passed First Proffessional Examination
with highest aggregate marks,

22.

Dr. Irtaza and Shana Siddique Scholarship in Nursing:One Scholarship of Rs.300/- per month tenable for ten months per year to be awarded to a
Muslim student securing highest marks in the First year examination of the Diploma in
General Nursing and Midwifery course at AMU, Aligarh. The scholarship will be continued
till completion of the course during the next 2.5 years provided the student maintains good
progress in studies. After the scholarship becomes vacant, it will be awarded in the same
manner to a new student from academic session starting after the scholarship becomes vacant.

23.

Dr. Irtaza and Shana Siddique Scholarship in Medicine and Surgery:One Scholarship of Rs.500/- per month tenable for ten months to be awarded to a Muslim
student securing highest marks at the MBBS entrance test of AMU, Aligarh and joins the said
course at AMU, Aligarh. The scholarship will be payable to such students for ten months
only. Thereafter, it will be awarded to a new student in the same manner, from the next
academic session.

FACULTY OF UNANI MEDICINE


TIBBIYA COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS AND STIPENDS
MERIT SCHOLARSHIP
1.

Five University Merit Scholarships of Rs.90/- p.m. and five of Rs.75/- p.m., are awarded to
students of Kamil-E-Tib-E-Jarahat BUMS class (all 5 years), on the basis of Admission Test
to the students of the First Year B.U.M.S., and on the basis of Examination result for the
remaining classes, tenable for 11 months.

KAMIL-E-TIB-O-JARAHAT (B.U.M.S.) SCHOLARSHIP

To be awarded to deserving students of Kamil-E-Tib-O-Jarahat (B.U.M.S.) class, upto the


extent of Rs.5,000/-, by the Academic Council on the recommendation of the Principal, Ajmal
Khan Tibbiya College.
3.

DAWAKHANA SCHOLARSHIP
To be awarded to deserving students of Kamil-E-Tib-O-Jarahat (B.U.M.S.) class out of the
profit of A.K. Tibbiya College Dawakhana, A.M.U., Aligarh.

4.

M.D. (UNANI)
Postgraduate stipend of the value of Rs.2,630/- p.m. plus allowances for the First Year and
Rs.2,705/- p.m. plus allowances for the Second Year and Rs.2,780/- p.m. plus allowances for
the Third Year to be awarded to candidates selected for the M.D. (Unani) course, on
execution of a bond.

5.

HAKIM ABDUL LATIF GOLD MEDAL


The Gold Medal shall be awarded to the student securing the highest marks in Moalijat, in the
Final BUMS Examination. The expenditure will be made out of the donation made by
A.K. Tibbiya Dawakhana, A.M.U., Aligarh.

6.

SIR SYED SCHOLARSHIP


Out of the interest on the donation of Rs.20,000/- given by the Registrar, Jamia Urdu, Aligarh,
one Scholarship of Rs.200/- p.m., tenable for 10 months, is awarded to the meritorious
student of Second Year Tib (B.U.M.S.).

7.

KHALAQ MIR KHAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP


Lump-Sum amount of Rs.14000/-for the poor student of BUMS (Final Year) A.K.T. College.

8.

MUZAFFAR MIR KHAN MEMORIAL GOLD MEDAL


Gold Medal in the name of Muzaffar Mir Khan Memorial Gold Medal to be awarded to the
student of A.K.Tibbiya College who secures highest marks in the final year examination of
BUMS.

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY


1.

M. TECH.

Postgraduate Scholarships of Rs.2,500/- p.m. each are awarded to candidates joining


Tech. course who qualify GATE Examination. The Scholarships are tenable
months and carry a contingent grant of Rs.3,000/- per annum.

ZAFAR ALAM SCHOLARSHIP


One Scholarship of Rs.100/- p.m., tenable for 10 months, shall be awarded to M.Tech. First
Year student who stands First in B.Tech. (Mech.) Final Examination. In case such a student is
not available, the Scholarship may be awarded to a student who stands Second or Third, in
order of merit, in the above Examination. Expenditure will be met out of the interest earned
on the donation made by Mr. Zafar Alam.

UNDERGRADUATE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP


B. TECH.
1.

Five Scholarships in order of merit determined in selection, one of Rs.120/- per month and
four of Rs.90/- per month, to be awarded to students of First Year B.Tech.

2.

Five Scholarships in order of merit, one of Rs.120/- p.m. and the rest of Rs.90/- p.m., to be
awarded to students passing the First Year Examination and joining the Second Year class.

3.

To students passing the Second Year Examination and joining Third Year and Fourth Year
class, merit Scholarships shall be awarded, as detailed below, in order of merit determined
as per the procedure laid down for the purpose.

Two University Merit Scholarships, of the value of Rs.120/- p.m. and Rs.90/- p.m. to be

and Third Year B.Tech. (Petrochemical Engineering) Examinations and pursuing their
studies in Second, Third and Fourth Year of the above course.

5.

Four University Merit Scholarships, of the value of Rs.120/- p.m., tenable for 11 months, to
be awarded to the students passing the Diploma Engineering Examination and admitted to
B.Tech First Year each in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical and Civil obtaining highest
percentage of marks at the Diploma Engineering (Final) Year Examination.

One University Merit Scholarship, of the value of Rs.120/- p.m., tenable for 11 months, to
be awarded to a candidate passing the B.Tech. First Year Examination of this University and
obtaining the highest percentage of marks.

Three University Merit Scholarships, one of Rs.120/- p.m. and two of Rs.90/- p.m., tenable
for 11 months, are to be awarded each year to B.Tech. (Electronics) students for the duration
of the course.

8.

Two Merit Scholarships, one of Rs.120/- p.m. and the other of Rs.90/- p.m., tenable for
11 months, shall be awarded to B.Tech. students on passing the Second Year and joining the
Third Year.

9.

Two Merit Scholarships, one of Rs.120/- p.m. and the other of Rs.90/- p.m., tenable for
11 months, shall be awarded to B.Tech. students on passing the Third Year and joining the
Fourth Year.

10.

Two Merit Scholarships, one of Rs.120/- p.m. and the other of Rs.90/- p.m., tenable for
11 months, shall be awarded to B.Arch. students on passing B.Arch. First Year and joining
the Second Year.

11.

Two Merit Scholarships, one of Rs.120/- p.m. and the other of Rs.90/- p.m., tenable for
11 months, shall be awarded to B.Arch. students on passing B.Arch. Second Year and
joining the Third Year.

12.

Two Merit Scholarships, one of Rs.120/- p.m. and the other of Rs.90/- p.m., tenable for
11 months, shall be awarded to B.Arch. students on passing B.Arch. Third Year and joining
the Fourth Year.

13.

Two Merit Scholarships, one of Rs.120/- p.m. and the other of Rs.90/- p.m., tenable for
11 months, shall be awarded to B.Arch. students on passing B.Arch. IV year and joining the
Final year.

14.

G.D. BIRLA FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE


Financial aid to the extent of Rs.500/- per annum is available to poor and meritorious
students of Faculty of Engineering. Expenditure will be met out of the interest earned on the
donation of Shri G.D. Birla.

15.

DR. N.A. KHAN SCHOLARSHIP


Two Scholarships of Rs.250/- p.m. each, tenable for 10 months, to be awarded to the
students securing highest marks, in order of merit, at the Entrance Examination of B.Tech.,
subject to the condition that the income of his parent/guardian does not exceed
Rs.2,000/- p.m. The Scholarship shall continue for the duration of the course provided the
recipient continues good progress in studies. Expenditure will be met out of the interest
earned on the donation made by Dr. Nasir Ahmad Khan.

16.

Four Scholarships each of the value of Rs.250/- p.m., tenable for 12 months, to be awarded

creed sex or any other such aspects. The Scholarships shall be given on consideration of
merit-cum-financial need. The expenditure will be met out of the interest earned on the

One Scholarship of Rs.250/- p.m., tenable for 12 months out of the interest on donation of

Scholarship shall be awarded to students without consideration of religion, cast, creed sex or
any other such aspects. The scholarship shall be awarded on the consideration of
merit-cum-financial need basis. The students shall be selected for the award in the beginning
of the session and the award list shall be sent to the donor and also to the mother of Captain
Haneefuddin.

Out of the interest earned on donation of Rs.1,12,000/- given by the sons and daughter of
Maulana Shibli Nedvi, nine Scholarships (3 in Electronics Engineering, 3 in Computer
Engineering and 3 in Chemical Engineering), one each to the students of Second, Third &
Fourth Year of each of the above branches @ Rs.125/- p.m. each, tenable for 10 months,
will be awarded as per detailed terms and conditions contained in E.Cs Resolution No.14
of the minutes dated 27.2.98 and circulated under No.C-III-EC (sch) 5/550 dated 01.4.99.

This Scholarship shall be awarded to the best Muslim student of IV year Electrical
Engineering on the basis of his three years performance in the class. The awardee should not
take any other Scholarship from any source after or before the award of this scholarship. The
Chairman of the Department /D.S.W. shall communicate the donor on his address each year
the name of the awardee alongwith the marks obtained by him in previous year.

29. PANDIT SURENDRA NATH MISHRA VIDYA MERIT SCHOLARSHIP


One merit Scholarship shall be awarded to a student of B.Tech. III year (any branch),
pursuing the course at Z.H. College of Engineering and Technology as a regular student
having passed his I and II Year B.Tech. Examination in first attempt, for 20 months of the
two academic sessions during which he would pursue his studies in III and IV Year of
B.Tech. course. The payment will be met out of the interest earn on the donation of 2 Lakh

One Scholarship of Rs.50/- p.m., tenable for 9 months, to be awarded to a student of
M.A./M.Sc. (Final) class of the University who has done best in the last Examination. The
Scholarship shall be awarded alternately to Arts and Science students.

The Gold Medal is to be awarded to a student who secures the highest marks in M.Sc.

following committee to a registered full time students of B.Sc.(Final) Geology on the basis of
securing highest marks (not less than 60%) in B.Sc.IInd year Geology as main subject out of

There is a provision of one scholarship entitled Hafiz Iftikhar Ahmad Memorial

One Scholarship of Rs.100/- p.m., tenable for 10 months, to be awarded to a girl student of
M.Sc. Final (Biochemistry) who has passed the M.Sc. Previous with First Division marks,
provided that the income of her parent/guardian does not exceed Rs.1,500/- p.m. and that the
awardee is not getting any other University Scholarship.

ALHAJ BEGUM QAZI ALMAS KHAN SCHOLARSHIP


Merit Scholarship of Rs.11/- p.m. be given to the women student who secures the second
highest marks in B.A./B.Sc. Examination and pursues her studies further in M.A. and M.Sc.

DR. MOHD. FAROOQ SCHOLARSHIP


Four Scholarships (two Boys & Two Girls) of the value of Rs.300/- p.m. each, tenable for 10
months, will be awarded to Four students of M.Sc. (Final) Botany who have secured First
Division marks in the M.Sc.(Previous) Botany course in order of merit. If during any session
the required number of students in ratio mentioned above is not available, the scholarship may
not be awarded in any other manner and the remaining unpaid amount carried over may be
distributed in the next year equally among the 4 students. The Expenditure will be met out of
the interest earned on the donation of Rs.1,00,000/- made by Dr. Rashid Farooq.

PROF. ABDUL MAJID SIDDIQUI SCHOLARSHIP


One Scholarship of the value of Rs.500/- p.m., tenable for 10 months, will be awarded to a
student of M.Sc. (Bio-chemistry) in the Faculty of Life Sciences. The student must have passed
B.Sc. Examination in the First Division. If the recipient gets First Division in
M.Sc.
(Biochemistry) Previous year Examination, the said Scholarship will also continue in M.Sc.
(Final). Financial position of the student will also be considered. The expenditure shall be met

out of the interest earned on the donation made by convenor C.A.N.E. Coordinator Scholarship
Fund, New Delhi.

AFZAL MUNIR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP


One Scholarship of the value of Rs.1,000/- p.m., tenable for 10 months, out of the interest
earned on the donation of Rs.1,10,000/- given by Prof. Munir Ahmad shall be awarded every
year on merit-cum-means basis to a student of M.Sc. (Previous) in the Department
Bio-chemistry, Faculty of Life Sciences who qualifies in a test and/or an interview to be
conducted by the Department every year. The selection committee shall consist of D.S.W.,
Finance Officer, Chairman of Bio-chemistry Deptt., Faculty of Life Sciences, one Professor
other than Chairman, Deptt. of Bio-chemistry, Faculty of Life Sciences Dr. Nafees Ahmad
Farooq, Reader, Deptt. of Anatomy, JNMC shall represent the donor in the final selection of
the awardee of the above scholarship.

PROF. M. MASHKOOR ALAM SCHOLARSHIP


Two Scholarships, one at M.Sc. (Previous) and the other in M.Sc. (Final) year of the value of
Rs.350/- p.m. shall be awarded in the Department of Botany as per the following terms and
conditions:
(a) A Departmental Test shall be conducted by the Chairman, Department of Botany, every
year after inviting applications from those students who join M.Sc. Botany and whose
parents income does not exceed Rs. 1 lakh p.a. The Scholarship will be awarded to the
student securing the highest marks.
(b) The whole process will be monitored by a Committee consisting of the Dean Students
Welfare, Chairman, Department of Botany and a representative of the donor.

Institution of one gold medal in the Department of Botany. It will be awarded to the student
securing highest marks at M.Sc. Final year (Botany) Examination (Preferably in Plant

PROF. NAWAB HASAN KHAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP


There is a provision of one scholarship entitled Prof. Nawab Hasan Khan Memorial
Scholarship, to be awarded to a student of M.Sc Part I of any subject in the Faculty of Life
Sciences, who has passed the B.Sc. from this University with good grades and is financially
weak. The said scholarship may be continued in M.Sc.(F), if his/her performance is
satisfactory at M.Sc. Part I examination, @Rs.1000/- per moths, tenable for 10 months out of
the interest earned on investment of Rs.1,40,000/-.

10.

PROF. ABBAS HUSSAIN MUSAVI MEMORIAL WILDLIFE CONSERVATION


FELLOWSHIP
The scholarship is to be awarded to a student of 4th Semester of M.Sc. (Wild life Sciences)
on the basis of securing highest marks in all three semester in aggregate. The Chairman,

Department of Wildlife Sciences will recommend the name of the student to be awarded
fellowship to the Dean, Students Welfare for necessary action.

SYED ZAHOOR QASIM SCHOLARSHIP


The Scholarship will be awarded to the student of M.Sc.(Final) offering fisheries as a special
subject and who has scored the highest marks in the M.Sc (Previous), @ Rs. 1000/- per month

DR. AHMAD WASEEM UNDERGRADUATE AWARDS IN BIOCHEMISTRY


There is a provision of two fellowships entitled Dr. Ahmad Waseem Undergraduate
awards in Bio-Chemistry, for the student(s) of B.Sc.(Hons.) II year and III year
(Biochemistry) to be awarded with poor economic back ground @ Rs.500/- p.m. tenable for
10 months. For the award of fellowship in B.Sc.II.Year the student must have passed
B.Sc.(Hons) I year examination securing a minimum average of 60% marks, having passed
in all papers and have put in a minimum of 80% attendance in the I year. The fellowship may
be continued for the subsequent year for 10 months @ Rs.500/- p.m. to support him/her in
the III year provided the awardee maintains the academic performance and class attendance
in II year. The donor has also whished that the recipients of the fellowships may
magnanimously return the amount received by them as fellowship once they complete their
education and settle down in a respectable job or other occupation either in India or abroad.
The students shall be asked to submit an undertaking that he/she will return the amount or
more if possible as and when he/she finds it convenient without any deadline.

qualifies for the scholarship, the same may be awarded to a First Division girl student who is
seeking admission to B.Ed. course. The Scholarship shall be awarded out of the interest
earned on the donation made by Prof. Zahida Zaidi.

SHRI HARI KRISHAN AHLUWALIA GOLD MEDAL


A Gold Medal shall be awarded to the student who secures the highest marks in the Final
Examination of M.Lib. and Information Science.

PROF. ABDUL ALEEM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP


Out of the interest of donation of Rs.1,00,000/- received through Dr. Shahid Jamil, two
Scholarships of the value of Rs.250/- p.m. each, tenable for 10 months, to be awarded one for
M.A. (Arabic) and another for M.A. (Islamic Studies) course, as per the detailed terms and
conditions circulated by the Registrar vide O.M. LD No.(C)/1172 dated 11.13/99.

A Gold Medal shall be awarded to the best student of B.Lib. Science student who obtains a

One Scholarship of the value of Rs.300/- p.m., tenable for 10 months, to be awarded, out of
the interest earned on the donation made by Prof. (Mrs.) Ghazala Ansari and Faculty
Members, to a student of M.A. Final who obtains the highest marks in aggregate in Social
Psychology and Experimental Psychology, and has obtained First Division in B.A. (Hons.)
Psychology.

interest earned on the donation of Rs.2,50,000/- given by Prof. A.A. Suroor, to be awarded to
a person working either in the field of Clinical Psychology or Psychology of Literature. The
award shall be for 2 years, and shall be made, on the recommendation of an Award
Committee, to a person with good academic record, obtaining First Division at M.A. level.

SIR SYED AHMAD KHAN CENTENARY CELEBRATION SCHOLARSHIP


Scholarships of the value of Rs.250/- p.m. each, tenable for 10 months, shall be awarded, out
of the interest on saving of collection for XXV All India Sociological Conference, amounting

out of the interest on donation of Rs.25,000/- given by Mr. Mahmoodur Rahman, Ex-V.C.,

two full-time students (Indian Nationals) of Islamic Studies every year who have offered
Turkish as one of the optional papers at the M.A. (P) and M.A. (F) class. The Scholarship
shall be awarded on the basis of a competitive test, followed by an interview conducted by the
Director/Chairman of the Institute/Department of Islamic Studies, Aligarh Muslim University,
or his nominee.

tenable for 12 months, to be awarded, out of the income of Endowment established by the

One Scholarship of Rs.125/- p.m., tenable for 10 months, shall be awarded to a student of
M.A. Previous (English) who secures the highest marks in English at B.A. Final Examination.
The Scholarship will continue in M.A. Final (English) also for a period of 10 months subject
to his/her good progress. The expenditure shall be met out of the interest earned on the

Instituted by late Syedna Saifuddin, former Chancellor of the University, the Trust, in

Annual cash prize of Rs.150/- to be awarded to a student of B.A. (Hons.) belonging to V.M.
Hall, who obtains First Division at the S.S.S.E. in Arts or failing such a student, to a student
of M.A. belonging to the V.M. Hall, who obtains First Division in the B.A. (Pass or Honours)
Examination of the Aligarh Muslim University.

MUSTAFA RASHEED SHERWANI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP


Five Scholarships, each of the value of Rs.100/- p.m., tenable for 10 months [5 x (Rs.100/- x
10 months = Rs.1,000/-) = Rs.5,000/- per annum] are to be awarded out of earnings on the
donation of Rs.1 lakh made by Shri A.R. Sherwani, New Delhi, to internal Boy students of
B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. I year course, one in each Faculty of Arts/Social Sciences/Science/Life
Sciences/Commerce, on securing highest marks with not less than 60% marks at the annual
examination of XII Course, subject to the condition that the awardee will not drop his studies
and also will not change his Faculty. If the student in the top merit is receiving any other
scholarship, the student next in order of merit with not less than 60% marks at the
XII examination shall be considered for the award.

These Loan Scholarships, ranging between Rs.50/- and Rs.110/- p.m., are awarded by the
Director of Education, Allahabad to the students who secure more than 50% marks in the
Final Examination.

The amount of these Scholarships varies between Rs.50/- and Rs.110/- p.m. The Scholarships

Augusta, Georgia to provide Scholarships every year in distinct disciplines to needy students,
especially those who are bright but do not have enough resources to pursue higher education.

IDB SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME


The Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Jeddah, in pursuance of its policy of helping students
belonging to Muslim communities around the world, is providing 120 Scholarships to the
Muslim Students from India, for study in recognised Universities/Colleges of India. The
Scholarships are available to meritorious and needy students who want to pursue their
course/study after seeking admission in the First Year of their Professional courses. The
Scholarships are confined to the students of MBBS, Pharmacy, Veterinary, Physiotherapy,
Nursing, Unani & Ayurvedic Medicine, Engg. & Tech., Information Technology, Computer,
Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, Food Technology, Business Administration and
Accountancy.
The IDB Scholarships are a grant from the IDB to the Islamic Community concerned and is
offered as an interest-free loan to the students, to be refunded in easy instalments. The
Scholarship covers monthly stipends for 12 months of the year, plus three months equivalents

for clothing and books. The IDB pays the tuition and other official expenses related to the
