Description: Color photo design advertising a company event.

Course/Instructor: Comm 130/Brother Pingel
Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Photoshop/DSLR Camera
Objectives: Take an image using a DSLR camera. Create a full
bleed design over one of the images taken paying specific image
to color scheme. Learn basics of Photoshop.
Process: First I went out and captured images demonstrating
good use of light, focus, and composition and then opened the
images in Adobe Photoshop where I preformed four basic edits. I
fixed the levels, vibrance, experimented with selective color, and
sharpened the image. From there I began designing and upon
completion had two people critique my design. I then followed
their critiques and completed a final project.

Objectives: : Create a logo for company stationery. Create a
business card that shows consistency. Create a logo in Illustrator
and layout in InDesign.
Process: I began by sketching ideas and formulating the right
message and color scheme for my audience. I then designed a
logo in Adobe Illustrator. After my logo was ready I placed it in
Adobe InDesign and designed a business card. I got a critique
from two people and then started on my final. I used repetition
and asymmetry with the triangle logo.

Objectives: Learn to use masks and layers in Photoshop. Practice
principles of typography and use special type to emphasize the
message.
Process: I started by picking a quote I wanted to incorporate into
my design. Then I formulated a message and outline through
sketch. I took my sketch into Photoshop and created a similar
design using four different photos. I created proximity by moving
the flow of material in a circular pattern. After having two people
critique my design I created a final project.

Description: Colored event ad to promote a charity event.

Program(s)/Tools: Microsoft Word/Scanner
Objectives: Find an image in a magazine. Properly scan the
image to avoid pixilation. Use design features of Microsoft Word
to create a full bleed layout.
Process: I first began by looking for an image through a set
of magazines. After finding an image I began to formulate a
message and draw out design ideas. After creating a draft in
Microsoft Word, I had three people review my design and give
me feedback. I then created a final draft incorporating elements
of repetition and alignment.

Description: A logo created in three different styles to advertise
the magician/illusionist Criss Angel.
Date: June 5, 2015
Course/Instructor: Comm 130/Brother Pingel
Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Illustrator
Objectives: Use basic tools of Illustrator. Create a company logo
in color, black and white, and white on black.
Process: I first began by determining who I wanted to design
a logo for and sketching out ideas that reminded me of that
particular company/individual. I then created three separate
logos Illustrator. I got two critiques and then gathered
approximately fifteen votes from students about their favorite
logo. I then began a final. I drew the hand with the pen and
brush tool. I cut the dice and the word angel in half with the
line tool and set them opposite of each other to create repetition
and asymmetry.

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
Objectives: Create a color brochure including at least one fold.
Text wrap an image. Learn how to use paragraph styles.
Process: I first began with sketching and creating two different
drafts in Adobe InDesign. I created a logo in Illustrator, cut out
and edited images in Photoshop, and then pulled it all together
in InDesign. I gathered two critiques and then completed a final
brochure.

leadership conference.

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe InDesign
Objectives: Create a black and white flier incorporating basic
design principles. Learn the basics of InDesign. Create a project
folder to store logos and text.
Process: I sketched out four different ideas and then chose the
sketch I thought would best fit my message and audience. I then
created a draft in Adobe InDesign and had two people review
and critique my design. From there I followed their design
alternatives to create my final draft. My design includes repeating
triangles down the sides and corners of the piece to adhere to the
principle of repetition. I also made my title the darkest of the text
to draw the viewer in. The content for this flier was provided.

Program(s)/Tools: Text Wrangler/html/css
Objectives: Take a previously designed logo and size it for the
web. Learn how to format a webpage using html and add design
principles using css.
Process: I first created a code to give me a simple outline of a web
page. After that I connected Wthe html with a css document to
stylize the format. I continually coded and then checked my code
to view font, colors, and so forth in Firefox. I was able to gather
critique from two people to improve my design and then create a
final draft.
