Lets Play Ball!

The American Legion Eastern A District Baseball

Tournament is underway as of this morning as
the Richland County Patriots faced the Laurel
Dodgers at 10:00. That was followed by the
Billings Blue Jays taking on the Glendive Blue
Devils (1:00), and the top-seeded Lewistown
Redbirds facing the Mavericks of Miles City
(4:00). This evenings game features the Glasgow
Reds going to bat against the Billings Cardinals
at 7:00. If the Reds get the win theyll be facing

the winner of the Lewistown/Miles City game on

Friday evening at 7:00. A Reds loss would have
them play the loser of the Lewistown/Miles City
game on Friday afternoon at 1:00.
As far as the weather is concerned, there was a
40% chance of thunderstorms today, so whether
this factors in on any games being delayed, we
were already on the press at 10:30 this morning.
The opening ceremony in honor of our Veterans
is slated for 6:00 this evening, pending delays.

Deadline to apply for hail

insurance is August 15th

Severe weather is no stranger in Montana. The 2013
storms still remind farmers of the importance of having
adequate coverage for this years crops. The Montana
State Hail Insurance program is financially secure, and
the staff is prepared to accept new policies through
August 15th as well as answer any questions producers
might have on coverage options.

The maximum coverage rate for dry land is $75 per
acre and $114 per acre for irrigated land. Rates vary by
county depending on the hail loss history of the area; a
detailed list of rates by county and crop can be found on
the programs website.

The State Hail Insurance Program was established
nearly 100 years ago by farmers to protect their crops
in the event hail damage occurs. We offer competitive
insurance coverage with a proven track record of
helping farmers manage hail risk. Many farmers carry
both state and private hail insurance to ensure they
have adequate hail loss protection, said Walt Anseth,
program supervisor.
State hail insurance forms are available online at
http://agr.mt.gov/agr/Producer/HailInsurance/ or at
Montana State University Extension, Conservation
District, and county revenue offices. Completed forms
can be mailed or faxed to the department or used as a
reference when you contact the program by phone.

The Montana State Hail Insurance program was
created at the request of producers in 1917 to provide
hail insurance coverage on any crop grown in Montana.

Fwp seeking public input

on elk hunting seasons

Fish, Wildlife and Parks is seeking public comment on
proposed guidelines to establish elk hunting seasons before
or after the existing archery and general rifle seasons.

The additional seasons, called elk shoulder seasons,
would be used where needed to reduce elk populations.

Were looking at what tools we can implement to
get elk numbers down in districts where we are over
population objectives said Ken McDonald FWPs
Wildlife Division Administrator.

A shoulder season could run from Aug. 15 to Feb.
15 outside the five- week general season.
Comments will be taken until 5 p.m., Aug. 10. To see
the proposal and comment, visit the FWP website at
fwp.mt.gov Click Submit Public Comments, then click

How the
fight
started...

The other day me and my wife got put in charge of
our grand-daughter. Shes about two-and-a-half, giveer-take a couple months.

The Missus dragged out the little tea set to keep her
occupied. I was sittin in the living room enjoying Wheel
of Fortune (that Vanna, shes still quite the looker) when
my darling granddaughter brought me a cup of tea (but
actually it was just water).

After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such
yummy tea, here comes the Missus and flops down
beside me. And here comes my granddaughter with
another cup of tea which I gladly drank.

Isnt that just the cutest thing! the Missus said.
After I had about three more cups of tea the Missus said,
Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can
reach to get your tea is the toilet?

And thats how the fight started...
