Episode list
121 half-hour episodes were produced. Note that the first and third titles are for Garfield shorts, while the middle
ones are for U.S. Acres shorts. There were Garfield Quickies and U.S. Acres Quickies which were short clip jokes
based on gags from the strips. During the second and third seasons, the show also featured Screaming with Binky
quickies in which Binky the Clown would scream his catch phrase and ruin an activity. The U.S. Acres Quickies and
Screaming with Binky ended after season three (and were mostly removed in syndication), but Garfield Quickies
lasted until the show ended.
Season 1 (1988)
The first and second seasons featured the theme song "Friends are There", written by Desire Goyette. The closing
credits for this season feature Garfield's face from a looking-up perspective against a pink background. All thirteen
shows from this season can be found on the Garfield and Friends: Volume 1 DVD set. Also, during this season,
many of the episodes aired out of order. This was corrected when the show went into syndication.

Peace and Quiet: Garfield watches TV all night and so he naturally tries to get some rest when Jon and Odie are out shopping, while Binky shows
up and tries to give Garfield a happy birthday wish, believing he is someone else's cat.
Wanted: Wade: Wade believes that the police will arrest him after he rips the a tag off the bottom of a couch. Meanwhile, Roy plays a CD on his
stereo, and the neighbor lady calls the police to complain.
Garfield Goes Hawaiian: Garfield catches the Hawaiian Cat Flu! And now, every time someone mentions Hawaii or anything from Hawaii, he
dances the hula. So things get worse when Garfield doesn't do so after being shown on a show about silly animal stunts.

snack and a fox comes and kidnaps Sheldon.

get out of hand when Wade makes fun of the farm's bull.
Good Mousekeeping: A mouse named Floyd realizes Garfield does not chase mice, so he tells a whole mouse clan which invades Garfield's house.

the rules with his own version.
Up a Tree: Nermal visits Garfield's house and Garfield gets jealous of the attention he gets. So Garfield decides to climb a tree.

The Worm Turns: Orson tells the viewers a story of why Booker stopped chasing worms. Booker set a trap but got caught in it. The worm later
frees Booker.
Good Cat, Bad Cat: After Jon tells Garfield to leave the mailman alone due to an important package delivery. Garfield's good and evil sides appear
and try to get Garfield to do naughty deeds and annoy the mailman.

Return of Power Pig: Orson reads Sheldon the nursery rhyme, "Humpty Dumpty." Sheldon thinks its a scary story and tells Booker. A rumor goes
around and concludes that there is a monster on the farm. Power Pig strikes back!
Fair Exchange: Garfield and Jon both have dreams where they switch bodies after they argued earlier that one lives life easier than the other. Both
learn that neither side has an easy life.

Don't Move: Garfield wanders into a fish shop to eat, and tells Odie to sit on the sidewalk and not move. Odie then gets caught by the dog catcher.

Magic Mutt: When Jon is asked to perform a magic show at a children's hospital, he goes to a small emporium. The owner has a dog which chases
Garfield around.
Short Story: Booker is tired of being short, while Orson's brothers try and steal the harvest crop. While the gang is on security duty, Booker is told
not to get involved. But after they're trapped he finds a way to take advantage of his lack of height.
Monday Misery: Garfield mails himself to Samoa to get away from Monday that has caused him misery. He eventually finds out that this country
(or island) is many hours behind the time zone of his home in Muncie, Indiana.

National Tapioca Pudding Day: Roy makes a spring-loaded gift-box of tapioca pudding with which to trick the farm animals into opening for
"National Tapioca Pudding Day", a fake holiday where tapioca pudding is given as a gift.
All About Odie: At a university, Garfield presents a documentary-like presentation. Garfield shows his and Odie's fan mail, which shows Odie is
more liked than Garfield by fans. So Garfield does a documentary on all about Odie.

Caped Avenger: While a cartoon expert comes to review some of Jon's characters, Garfield's alter ego the Caped Avenger searches for Pooky, who
is missing.
Shy Fly Guy: During the winter Fred Duck, Wade's cousin, visits the farm to ask Wade if they want to fly together, and finds humor in the fact that
Wade is afraid to fly, so Wade makes a resolution to fly during the end of the winter.
Green Thumbs Down: Jon decides it's a good idea for them to grow their own food in the garden after noticing the high grocery bills.

Forget Me Not: Garfield is hit in the head with a pie tin, and suffers from amnesia. His personality is completely reversed, Jon is especially
concerned when Garfield asks who everyone is and does not know his own name and even turns down lasagna.
I Like Having You Around!: Orson is writing an extract in his diary, from about two weeks ago, about Bo leaving the farm after fighting with his
sister Lanolin.
Sales Resistance: Garfield has gotten into a habit of ordering things over the phone from infomercials. After buying another expensive useless item
(a Leonardo da Vinci statue made out of elbow pasta), Jon threatens that if he buys one more worthless item off TV, he will no longer be fed
lasagna. When Jon leaves, Garfield struggles to stay away from a salesman who wants him to buy a free elephant repeller.
Season 2 (1989)
Starting with this season, the show was expanded to an hour-length format, allowing six episodes to air each week.
The closing credits background was changed to feature Garfield's face, between Jon's and Odie's, which are between
those of the U.S. Acres characters, against a blue background. Episodes 1424 can be found on the Garfield and
Friends: Volume 1 DVD set, while the rest are on the Garfield and Friends: Volume 2 set.

Pest of a Guest: During the winter, a greedy cat that appears to be on his death bed is welcomed into Jon's home, where Garfield gets jealous that
this intruder will ruin his life, and is therefore determined to get rid of him.
The Impractical Joker: Roy is banned from the farm after insulting all the animals with a joke book, and is replaced by Fred Duck.
Fat and Furry: After Garfield buys a lottery ticket with the number 77777779, the crew win the lottery and become famous. They also get to star
on "Lifestyles of the Fat and Furry", hosted by Robin Leach.

Rip Van Kitty: At the park, all Garfield wants to do is eat, harass Nermal, and nap. Jon says he has had it with Garfield's sloth, and he can sleep as
long as he wants. Garfield is pleased to hear this, and wakes up 20 years later (2009) in a futuristic universe, as an elderly version of himself and is
greeting by an aged Odie and elderly Jon. He finds that the future isn't all it's cracked up to be (at least his interpretation of it), and things get worse
when Zizzabottawaddawaddaboinkboinkfreeb attacks Earth, whose inhabitants sleep 23 hours a day and use the remaining time to eat everything in
sight. But the final straw comes when Garfield, hoping to see an ugly decrepit Nermal, still finds a young, cute kitten, causing Garfield to wish he
had not slept so long.
Grabbity: Roy plays a prank on Wade, who wonders what would happen if the Law of Gravity (or "Grabbity" as Roy pronounced it) was repealed.
Orson then explains what would really happen and Roy is glad that his TV newscast was phony. Cameo appearance of Jon.
The Big Catnap: Jon's mother sends him a box of homemade cookies, and tries to avoid Garfield, who eats them every year they are delivered.
Every year, Garfield pulls elaborate pranks to steal them.

Scrambled Eggs: Orson tells the audience a previous event about Sheldon and how he was mistaken for a mother turtle's child, who, like Sheldon,
was not hatched yet and his legs are sticking out.
Hansel and Garfield: Garfield tells Nermal his twist on the story of Hansel and Gretel, but it still largely holds true to the original fairy tale, which
Nermal hates due to the violence.

the freezer, then decorating the house for Christmas, where he causes a trend in the city of decorating for Christmas in the middle of July.

Goody-Go-Round: Bo needs a record player so he can listen to some music, and Orson sets out to find him one for being such a good friend, where
a chain reaction is put in effect after the giver wants something in return, with some catastrophic results.
The Black Book: Jon is going on a date with one of his girlfriends, until he thinks that she already has one, so he tells Garfield to hide his black
book of women's phone numbers.

Cutie and the Beast: Nermal runs away after believing that he is ugly, which is caused by one of Garfield's pranks. Odie is upset and nags Garfield

comedy, which the animals try to save with all of Roy's joke books.
Attack of the Mutant Guppies: After hearing Garfield's story on giant radioactive mutant guppies, Nermal gets scared and can't go to sleep. So
Garfield tries to prove to Nermal that his fictional story about giant radioactive mutant guppies is false so he can sleep. However, it turns out to be
real. Note: Last episode on the Volume 1 DVD.

later does receive bad luck and agrees to sell.
Mud Sweet Mud: Everyone in the farm decides to clean up the farm after it looks messy and everyone disputes later to drain out Orson's Waller.
But Orson explains to them what it means to him.
Rainy Day Dreams: During a rainy night, Jon has a date at home, despite the fact that his date is a home insurance salesman, while Garfield and
Odie use their imaginations for adventures since they are bored.

Gort Goes Good: Orson's brother Gort explains that he has given up his evil ways and is now on Orson's side. The others though believe they can't
trust Gort.

The Big Talker: Garfield is furious with a loudmouth superstitious television host, who hates cats and says they are not useful whatsoever, Garfield

giant.
Crime and Nourishment: Retrieving his lasagna at a picnic, Garfield stumbles upon a strange community of small green people (similar to the
Smurfs) who use food items as currency, and eat money.

Little Red Riding Egg: After finding a video camera, Orson decides to make a movie with the farm animals adapting Little Red Riding Hood using
Sheldon as the title character, while the Fox is searching for nourishment.
Well-Fed Feline: An activist visits Jon's house to make sure Garfield is being well-fed and is not neglected. She comes in and finds out Jon is angry
at Garfield for eating his Lasagna cake and Jon says he'll never feed Garfield again. She says she'll come back after a month and Jon should fed
Garfield as much as he can or else she will call the police. After a month the lady comes back and calls the police because he forgot to feed Nermal.

Invasion of the Big Robots: Garfield wakes up one morning and finds himself in a Space Shuttle Launch Site. After a warrior (Starwolf) passes by
him and makes commands to his fleet, Garfield soon realizes that he is in the wrong cartoon. (A similar plot is used in "Clash of the Titans".)
Shelf Esteem: Orson is putting all his books away after Wade gets scared and crashes into his books. Then Wade tells Lanilon what Orson is doing.
Roy overhears them talking about how it could take some time. But Roy says Orson will never get his books away until the next day. Lanilon and
Roy argue about this and they decide to bet: If Lanilon wins, Roy has to do both her and Wade's chores for a month, But if Roy's opinion is correct,
then Roy's chores would be split up to Wade and Lanilon. Roy knows Orson will always get interested in the book he is putting away so he starts
reading it and it will take forever. Then Roy sneaks some of his library books into the stack and Lanilon sees him, so to win the bet, she adds a book
entitled "How to be a good librarian".
Housebreak Hotel: Jon is going out of town and dumps Garfield and Odie at Howie's housebreak hotel but only to find this is a place where they
keep the animals in cages all day long and neglect them. Guest voice of Jesse White.

cartoon is called "A Witch in Time" where Odie goes to a stranger's house for a reward for bringing back her purse after she accidentally dropped it.

In this season, the show went back to airing one new episode a week, but stayed in the hour-length format, filling up
the second half-hour with episodes from the previous season and some of the prime-time specials from the 1980s.

Also worth noting is that here, a new theme song was added that was written by J.R. Johnston and Neil Panton. The
theme was sung by J.R. Johnston. This theme song was not shown internationally, and as a result, it does not appear

The Monster Who Couldn't Scare Anybody: Orson tells Booker and Sheldon the story of a young monster, later revealed as a farmer who
advertises sausage, that can't scare anyone-- until he scares away Orson's mean brothers.
The Ocean Blue: Told in song, the gang vacations at the beach. Then, the shark eats their boat, and later becomes friendly as Garfield feeds him
pizza! The singer was later revealed to be the shark, and the series ends as Garfield exclaims "I'd rather eat the boat".
