INTRODUCTION
Early prior research demonstrated the superiority of ceramics for bearings (1, 2)
and the existence of elasto- hydrodynamic (ehd) lubricant films at ball and roller
contacts (3), the calculation of which is now an accepted part of bearing
engineering. These new concepts are now used in the design of lubrication systems
with solid lubricants that operate in much more severe environments than oils and
greases (4, 5).

Proprietary computer codes and unique patented bearing

configurations for optimizing the performance of bearing/solid-lubricant systems

have been developed (6, 7 and 8).

In this way, patented self-contained solid-

lubricated all-steel and hybrid-ceramic ball and roller bearings are now available for
environments that do not contribute to their lubrication, such as in air or vacuum.

Task 2:
Template is a tool for ensuring that all the documents and publications have
standard layout. Templates can be used to define the formatting to be used in
documents and slides, as an example they can control font style, font size and
colour. They can also control page formatting such as margin size and can ensure
that standard text such as page number, date/ time, author, file, name and location
appears on every page, usually within the header or footer.

The advantage of using templates is that they ensure that all documentation is
consistent, they save huge amount of time. They help inexperienced staff produce
professional looking documents easily which follow company house style. They are
read only, which means that they cant be altered by mistake. There are some
problems with these templates that we need to consider. The first one is that
because templates are read only, if an error found, only person with correct
authority can alter the template. The second one is that if spelling mistakes or
errors appears on the template, those mistakes will appear in every document
created from that template. The third one is that the template might not be
appropriate for a specific task, but user can not alter it.
Task 3:

Improved Thermal Efficiency of Coal-Fired Power Station

Abstract
The CO2 emissions from coal-fired power stations can be reduced through two
strategic approaches; one is to improve the thermal efficiency of power stations and
the other is to capture CO2 from the waste gases, which would otherwise be
released to the atmosphere. This study focuses on the former approach with the
aim of investigating how the design and operating parameters of power stations
have an impact on the efficiency of power production and CO 2 emission. The study
was carried out numerically by simulating a combined combustion/steam-cycle
model developed at the University of Regina. The model was based on the
knowledge of coal combustion, heat transfer and thermodynamics of steam-powercycle. Simulation of the model provided essential information related to power
generation, including steam-cycle thermal efficiency, net power efficiency, coal
consumption, CO2 emission, temperature of combustion zone and released flue gas.
By conducting the sensitivity analysis using Monte Carlo simulation technique for a

400 MWe coal-fired power station, the magnitude of impact that operating
parameter has on the plant efficiency and CO 2 emission was realized. The outcome
from the sensitivity analysis allowed us to establish operational strategies for coalfired power station to achieve the maximum efficiency with minimum CO 2 emission.

ABSTRACT

In this article we are trying to find new ways of producing much more
electricity than we producing currently. By means of investigating how operating
parameters and the design of power stations have a impact on CO2 emissions
and the efficiency of power production.
INTRODUCTION

The new ways of doing this is to install more power stations and boilers
around the country so we can get more power.
NOMENCLATURE

This study focuses on reducing co2 emissions and increasing efficiency in

power stations by improving thermal efficiency of power stations by capturing
CO2 from the waste gases.
