Geological Details
Geological
formation

Blocks are occupied by exposure of Barakar formation and

mostly covered by soil/weathered mantle. Predominant rock
strata is sandstone/ shale

Geological
structure

Strike of the strata is almost E-W in general but in the central

part it swings to WNW to ESE and again to E-W in the eastern
part

Dip

The general dip of the strata/coal seams is southerly and varies

from
10-19 degrees, average dip being about 14 degrees

Faults

Coal block contains 11 faults having throw in the range from 10130 m
