MTSS - The Intermediate Center works hard to meet the needs of all learners. We do this in the
area of reading every day from 8:05 8:35. This time called My Time Showing Success (MTSS)
allows teachers to work with students at his or her level, whether that level is above or below
grade level. Look for a letter in early September informing you about your students placement
and goals during MTSS.

AR At the CIC we use Accelerated Reader (AR) to help monitor your students reading comprehension.
During the first few weeks of school, every student will take the STAR test. This provides the student with a
reading level. We use this number as a data piece to see at what level the student is reading. A STAR
score of 5.5 means the student is reading at the average level of a 5th grade in the 5th month of school.
At the start of each quarter, your student will set a goal with his or her teacher. Students who achieve
that goal will receive an incentive at the end of quarter. Students who reach other milestones (100 total
points, highest amount of points in the grade/school, most words read), will receive other recognition.
MAP The MAP test, sometimes call the NWEA test, stands for Measures of Academic Progress. It is given
to all CIC students at the start and end of each year. This is a nationally normed test that allows us to see
student growth from year to year and throughout the year.
Feedback Your students teacher will be able to share information with you about MTSS, AR, NWEA, and
any other letters that you know of!
