The monster of the woods
Temporary visual.
September 2015

Winter is coming and the Ptimounes are gathering food in

the woods. When one of them tells there is a monster, they
dont believe her. But later on when they cross the path of
the monster, they run home, scared to death. Eventually,
they realise that it was their friend, Bigtoune, who was
playing a prank on them.

The ptimounes and

the pesky birds
Disaster! When waking up the Ptimounes discover a hole
in the shed roof. Theres no way of repairing it - theres not
a single strand of grass lying around anymore. But maybe
they could turn this hole into a wonderful window, to gaze
up at the sky?

Good night, little snail!

Temporary visual.
September 2015

The ptimounes and the

Too-cute-for-words little fish

The Ptimounes help a poor snail who broke his shell. They
bring him to their home to help him to recover. But winter is
coming and the snail needs a full belly and a place to go to
hibernation so Bise offers her shed. Before letting the snail
sleep until spring, the Ptimounes organise a little feast.

After heavy rainfall, the Pitmounes save the life of a little

fish stranded in the middle of a puddle. They look after it
and feed it but they are not prepared for what happens
when the little fish grows

Watch out, Im counting to ten eight, nine, ten aaaand

Im coming! And off goes Big Bad Wolf with his big basket
to look for the hidden ones. Oh! Whos there underneath the
blanket, shaking? Lift the flap to uncover the small rabbit
hiding! And what can you see there, behind the moving
curtain? Lift the flap and discover a piglet and a small hen!
And lets not forget about lifting the lid of the big wooden
box where youll find a little curly sheep, ready to join all
of his friends in Big Bad Wolfs big basket! Now, its time
to eat. But eat what? Or who? Surely, not all of those little
ones? No, eat together instead. And quick, so we can play
hide-and-seek once more afterwards!

Brrr It has been snowing all day and Big Bear is on his
way home. But whos hidden behind those shuddering
bushes? Lets have a look, lift the flap and oh, look whos
there: Little Rabbit shaking with cold! And whos underneath Big Bears hat now? Little Rabbits little brother, all
cosy in the warmth of Big Bears big hat! But theyre not
the only ones to hide from the cold: two little birdies whose
beaks were chattering behind a leaf can soon enjoy the
warmth of Big Bears scarf, and three tiny mice who were
sheltering in a tree stump are being carefully rescued by Big
Bear who puts them in his big basket. But lets all get in the
warm, and quick, because now Big Bear himself struggles
to keep warm! Luckily, Mama Bear was awaiting everyone
at home, where she was getting some nice hot chocolate
ready for all!

But Max and Remy rely on their bigger and taller friend,
Leon, to provide a comprehensive view of all the things

Its only when Leon told them that there is a red baloon that
Max and Remy feel the urge to go in front to see it. Eventually, the three of them can finish their journey side by side

The idea for this book was born from a game invented to
pass the time during their long captivity. Held as hostages
in Syria for 10 months, Nicholas Henin and Pierre Torres asked each other: Which animal would you like to be? Which
represents you the best? The hedgehog came as the answer and the story they wanted to tell took shape.
While looking for his food, Daddy Hedgehog ventures into
a picnic basket full of food: but the basket is soon carried
away, taking the hedgehog far from his home. Trapped in
a box by a little boy who would like him to be his friend,
he manages to escape but, desperate for food, accidently
swallows some poison he finds on his way. He meets a rat
who looks after him and gives him the strength to return
home. After many adventures and encounters of various
kinds, Daddy Hedgehog finally returns home to his family.

The little time thief never had a great understanding of

time. Seconds, minutes, hours, from dawn to twilight, all
seem to relentlessly go by, the same way every day. Until
he meets a little girl, one day, and all of a sudden it all
starts to make sense! Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday how many days until he meets her again? The week,
slowly and painfully goes by, never quickly enough. Will he
be able to catch those fleeting minutes to be able to be with
her again and spend more time by her side? Time has never
been so precious: precious because they share it together.

Nils Holgersson is a little boy with a tendency to dislike

everyone. One day he is mean to an elf who had been watching over his family, so the elf decides to take revenge and
makes Nils very small. Despite being annoyed by his new
size, Nils can do nothing but listen to the reproaches of the
animals he had previously been mean to. He forces himself
to get used to his new size when he responds to the white
ganders call to the wild geese to depart for Lapland. Nils
climbs onto the gander and joins the geese.
Along with them he passes through Sweden and meets
many people who influence him. When he returned home
he had become a good boy.

- Adaption of a world famous Swedish tale by Selma

Lagerlf, about initiation.
- Incredibly elegant design with 2-colour illustration.
- Laser cut landscapes throughout.

The perfect activity book for 3-8 years olds where
traditional activity meets colouring-in.
In those books, there are twelve successive sections of
double-spread pairs. In each, the first double-spread focuses on a particular object each subject is blown-up and
drawn with thick black outlines to allow for colouring. Once
the children have familiarised themselves with the object,
they can move on to the next spread where they are being
challenged to find the object in a very busy scene. The
second spread also offers extra activity such as drawings
to complete, objects to count, some colour-in elements,
mazes to complete, or spot the difference types of games
Once all twelve sections have been completed, all of the
objects encountered throughout the reading are put together in one big busy scene which children may now also

The tale of a very tormented teenage girl, who comes

back from a summer in Mongolia, changed forever.
Amelia is 16 years old and her parents, albeit very loving,
dont have any time for her. Food and overeating have become her refuge. Amelia carries around the weight of her
body and her undesirable kilos like a punishment. But one
day, an unexpected letter from Mongolia comes through the
post and completely shakes her daily life. It will take her to
the very poor streets of Oulan-Bator, Mongolia, where she
decides to spend her summer working for an NGO specialising in helping children in need.
This is a highly credible and somewhat surprising comingof-age story by the very talented author of Red Diary and
Sweet Sixteen. At the back of this real identity quest stands
the honest and touching picture of what Mongolia looks
like today.

Echoing the narrative of a young troubled teenager,

this is the story of a group of immigrants fleeing their
native Eritrea in a quest for a new beginning.
Summer 2006. Milla, a young Italian of 17, returns with her
parents to the Island of Lampedusa to spend the summer
holiday in their old family home, where she hasnt set foot
in for the past 10 years. The atmosphere is very heavy,
haunted by the memory of her young brother Manuele who
succumbed to illness when he was only a few months old.
Little by little, the breathtaking beauty of the island manages to lift Millas spirits, and she soon makes a friend,
Paola, an older student. Lampedusa, also known as the
Salvation Island, gradually works its charms and seems to
be holding true to its reputation for our troubled teenager.
But ones definition of heaven and hell couldnt be more
different...
Only a few kilometres ashore, and stacked aboard a tiny
dilapidated dinghy, a group of Eritreans are trying to flee
their own country after having risked their lives on many
different occasions and endured many sufferings. Their
memories and voices alternate with Millas story from the
a raging sea where their lives are at stake...
Once again, Annelise Heurtier delivers a poignant and
powerful piece of fiction, and manages to give the issue
of immigration the voice and human dimension it deserves.

Paris, 1499. While France is celebrating Louis XIIs rise

to the throne, Pernelle, a young and modest water
bearer dreams of a better life. Truly fascinated by the
idea of writing and reading, both talents which are on
the rise thanks to the printing industry becoming bigger by the day and books getting a wider distribution,
she sets herself the challenge of educating herself.
She eventually meets Enzo, a young Italian student,
who, in return for her friendship, accepts to help her
out in her task.
Struck by bad luck, with her father Arsene having succumbed to illness and her mother Rolande imprisoned on
suspicion of witchcraft, Pernelle is in desperate need of
money and accepts she must leave for Italy to sell a few
manuscripts on behalf of Antoine Vrard, a bookseller and
publisher friend who has entrusted her with these. In Italy,
as she is conducting her task, she meets a lot of different
people which in time lead her to Aldo Manuzio, the famous
printer and inventor of the italics characters. Whilst at
his side, she helps him to put together an innovative new
form of printing: the in-octavo book, ancient precursor of
the paperback. Back in Paris, stronger with her new skills,
she secures herself a paid position at Antoine Vrards and
meets her friend Enzo again, who she couldnt stop thinking of, and in time, reunites with her mother. Pernelles
adventures have not only made her an adult, but also a
very different person from a modest water bearer, she has
grown to become a genuine bearer of words.

Anne Pougets latest title set in medieval times,

which takes us to both Paris and Venice with a
young poor heroine at its heart and the backdrop
of the rise of the printing industry.

A great series with a very strong female heroine.

The writing of this series is engaging and captivating and
the world of Penelope Green is intriguing and mysterious,
fraught with danger and unexpected turns of eventmaking each book a fast paced and very exciting read.
There are also distinct repetitive features: Penelopes fiercely independent will, the development of a semiromance
with her bodyguard, Cyprien Bonaventure, and her nose
for a story (and for danger!).
Interestingly, the author has chosen to set the stories in
a lost time, the late 19th century, when female characters
were rarely independent, so Penelope Green is a very distinctive and unusual character, which creates a strong follow-ability.

Find out about the Oceans, and the incredible biodiversity they hold, and learn about the connections between

Discover the world

By Cecile Marais& Martin Desbat

A source of life and genuine inspiration, the oceans have continually fascinated mankind. Covering more than 70% of the planet, they are everywhere in our existence: they provide food and
water, guaranteeing health, producing oxygen and renewable
energy sources. Indispensible for our economic and commercial
activities, they also fuel our imagination, tempting us to travel
Thanks to her very unique experience with oceans, Maud Fontenoy is able to share what she knows about the treasures they
hold and to tell the real story of this precious, delicate resource. If
the oceans play an essential role in sustaining the Earth, humanity equally has a role to play in its preservation. With straightforward debates and concrete pedagogical examples drawn from
everyday life, Maud Fontenoy asks children directly to be aware
of their relation to water- in order to protect the planet and all the
vitality it holds, its up to every one of us to act!

Why is this right? Why is this wrong?
How do you know what you know?
Can you decide to be happy?
Can you live without others?

A reflection at a childs comprehension level on the questions about our role in society, the role of the state, equality
and freedom, beliefs and ideas, supported by quotations
from Locke, Marx and Rawls, and punctuated by the illustrations of Mauro Mazzari.
What if we talked about Politics? follows the main principles already established in the collection: first essays in
dialectics via little stories in which the reader is the hero,
commentary on imagery, explaining quotes from the great
thinkers, all of which is interspersed with games (puzzles,
proverbs to unravel), quizzes and mini comic strips.

A Bee or a wasp? A wolf or a coyote? A bird spider or a

tarantula? A whale or a sperm whale? In nature, hundreds
of animals look almost the same but do they really, when
you look a little more closely? That is the starting point of
this stunningly illustrated book: Learn how to examine the
animals which at first appear the same to tell them apart.

A guide to the worse and nastiest figures of History,

from Antiquity to Modern Day. Remembering the bad
and ugly is also part of our work of remembrance.
We all know the most famous and heroic people in History,
but how about the others? The crazies, the traitors, the tyrants, the criminals, the dictators, the assassins, the bad
and plain horrible?
Nasty Legends introduces children to the abominable characters in history, often detested, controversial, who horrified their people but have nonetheless marked history
and played a part in it. Here is a very comprehensive guide
to the worst of men (there actually were only a few bad
women) along with of all of the reasons why they were so
detestable: i.e. Herodias, Akhenaton, Nero, Attila, Genghis
Khan, Ivan the Terrible, Pierre Cauchon, Torquemada, Cortes,
Henry VIII, Robespierre, Rasputin, Marie-Antoinette, Custer
or else, closer to us, Hitler and other Nazis, Pinochet, Ceausescu or Pol Pot. Each figure is given full spread treatment,
with a high level of illustration, along with a short informative text written in the form of a shameless biography. A
must-have and the last piece needed to complete Historys
puzzle!

We are at the start of the 18th Century. From dawn till dusk,
Biolo, aged 9 years-old, fishes in the Nigerian plains. But
who are these men ambushing at the river? They are watching the child. Soon, they catch him and he joins others,
all being taken away far, far from Africa.

Sethi lives 3,500 years ago in Thebes, in the Egypt of the

Pharaohs. Its the end of spring, the time of the year when
the Nile floods, the time of the construction of the great
temples. Sethi is about to start an ordinary day, waiting to

NON FICTION
Archie rabbits big questions

Archie Rabbit, despite looking somewhat of a simpleton, is a

rabbit of the highest intelligence This Socrates of modern
times will astound you! In three different parts, he is asking
himself (and you) many questions: for example, who is he
exactly, what does he like, and what does he know? Would
he still be a rabbit if he didnt have his big ears? And you, if
we took away your big ears, would you still be you? Why,
he wonders also, does he love carrot crisps so much, and
his darling Pamlita? Why dont words come out when we
really want them to? Is it possible to understand big, complex things when you are only small, or is it only possible for
adults?
The text, written with wit and a wry kind of humour, approaches the questions that are of interest to everyone,
young and old alike, with subtlety and a pinch of philosophy. A gift for everyone to enjoy!

NON FICTION
Do your dreams hide beneath your pillow?
By Anne Terral & Amlie Fontaine

A picture book written in nursery rhyme format to

take us into the wonderful whirlpool of childhood
memories.

Available
17 cm 23 cm

Is a book happy to be opened for the first time? Will your

shadow dare one day to go far from you? Do the walls
regret not being able to walk? How does summer morning
feel about always being the first to get up? And the holiday
road, is it as desperate as you to put its feet in the water? A
text like a catchy nursery rhyme which accurately explores
the vivid imagination of children. The poetry and the charming nostalgia of childhood are brought together in this
book like no other.
Anne Terral was born in Toulouse in 1970. Editor and author,
she writes for both children and adults. She lives and works
in Paris. Amlie Fontaine was born in 1987. After having
studied decorative arts in Paris, she launched her career
in illustrated books and also works for the press. She has
already published with Helium and Gallimard Jeunesse.

Love according to Ninon

Happiness
according to Ninon

Ninon is always asking many questions and in

this particular book she invites us to think about
the concept of beauty .
What is beauty? What makes something beautiful? Is
it to do with feelings? Is beauty subjective or objective?
How to recognise a work of art when one sees one?
Many questions that Ninon asks and invites the reader
to think about.
In this new book the author talks in an innovative and
creative way about beauty. Ninons way of thinking
improves gradually thanks to dialogue, anectodes and
the confrontation of ideas. She brings the reader to ask
even more questions.
