Toy safety proficiency testing scheme

LGC Standards Proficiency Testing (PT) is an accredited international provider
of proficiency schemes. We have over 25 years experience in all aspects
of providing PT services to laboratories undertaking chemical, clinical,
microbiological, and physical measurements.
LGC Standards PT annually runs over 1,500 proficiency testing exercises,
serving more than 8,000 laboratories. We produce in excess of 250,000
test materials which are distributed to over 150 countries worldwide.
The TOYTEST scheme allows laboratories involved in the safety testing
of toys to monitor their analysis against the requirements of European
Standard EN71 and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)
F963 toy safety standards. A comprehensive range of test materials will
be included over the scheme year to be assessed against the regulations;
however, not all parts of the standards will be assessed over a scheme year.
Participants will be given clear instructions as to which parts of the standards
are to be assessed.
Further tests may be added at the discretion of the Advisory Group.
Commitment to quality and efficiency is demonstrated through certification to ISO 9001
for all our activities and accreditation to ISO/IEC 17043 for the operation, management
and design of proficiency testing schemes.

Benefits of participation:

A truly independent assessment of measurement quality, which

enables laboratories to compare their analytical capabilities with
peer laboratories;
Results obtained are recognised as a demonstration of laboratory
quality by a range of third parties, customers, regulators and
accreditation bodies;
Secure online storage, reporting and trending of your data using
our proprietary software system PORTAL;
Typical round cycle - from despatch to report in 4 weeks.

Scheme operation
The TOYTEST scheme year operates from January to December. Test materials are despatched four times per
annum. Round despatch dates and reporting deadlines, are available on the current TOYTEST application form.
Further information can be found in the TOYTEST scheme description. These documents can be downloaded from
