Install Microsoft Loopback Adapter


Log onto your laptop with a local Administrator account.
Click Start > Control Panel.
If you are in Category view, click Hardware and Sound > Device Manager;
If you are in the Small Icons view: click Device Manager.
In the Device Manager dialog window:
Highlight Network Adapters (You can expend the list),
Click Action on the menu bar,
Select Add Legacy Hardware.
6) Add Hardware dialog box opens. Click Next.
7) Select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced). Cl
ick Next.
8) Select Network adapters in the list. Click Next.

9) Select Microsoft in the Manufacturer box, and Microsoft Loopback Adapter in t
he
Add Hardware dialog box. Click Next.
10) Click Next again to install Microsoft Loopback Adapter;
11) Click Finish.

2. Configure a Static IP for Loopback Adapter
1) Log on to the laptop with a local administrator account.
2) Click Start > Control Panel
3) Double-click Network and Sharing Center (View by Small Icons)
4) Select Change Adapter Settings on the right
5) Right-click on the Loopback Adapter > rename it as SPLM Loopback Adapter .
By default, the loopback adapter name is Local Area Connection #.
6) Right-click on the Loopback Adapter > select Properties
7) Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and then click Properties bu
tton.
8) Select Use the following IP address option, then manually type in an IP.
For example, IP 192.168.0.1, with Subnet mask of 255.255.0.0.
(Check with your IT department if you re not sure which address is available to as
sign to
it)
9) Click on OK to dismiss the Internet Protocol TCP/IP Properties dialog.
10) Click on OK to dismiss the Loopback Adapter Properties.

3. Configure Advanced Settings for Loopback Adapter
1) Log into the laptop with a local administrator account.
2) Click Start > Control Panel > View by Small Icons..
3) Click Folder Options > View tab > Turn on Always show menus option. Close
Folder Options window.
4) Click Network and Sharing Center in Control Panel.
5) Select Change Adapter Settings on the right.
6) Select Advanced > Advanced Settings from the pull down menu
7) The Advanced Settings dialog box displays.
8) Under Adapters and Bindings, highlight SPLM Loopback Adapter and click the
Green up arrow, moving it to the top of the list.
9) Click OK to dismiss the Advanced Settings Dialog.
10) Dismiss the Network Connections dialog.
11) Reboot the system to assure these changes are written to the registry before
generating a
machine ID using the SmartPlant License Manager utility.

4. Install SPLM and Generate a Machine ID
1) Log onto the laptop with a local administrator account.
2) Download the latest SPLM software from the eCustomer website
https://crmweb.intergraph.com
(Service > Download Software Updates > Products > SmartPlant License Manager)

3) Open Control Panel > View by Small Icons > click Device Manager > Open Networ

Adapters list.
4) Click View on the menu bar > click Show Hidden Devices.
5) Right-click on the adapters and disable ALL network adapters EXCPT the Micros
oft
Loopback Adapter in the list.
6) Select Start > All Programs > Intergraph SmartPlant License Manager > Generat
e
Machine ID and save to a text file such as c:\MachineID.TXT.
7) Back to the Device Manager s dialog window, right-click and enable all the prev
iously
disabled network adapters.
8) Send the Machine ID file to your regional office or contact Intergraph eLicen
se at
PPMSERV@INTERGRAPH.COM to request a license key. Do not generate Machine
ID again after you sent out your Machine ID file to Intergraph and before you
install your new license key.
9) Open SPLM and select Install and Remove > Install License Key to install the
license
key you received from Intergraph.
5. Add pdlice.exe onto Firewall Exception List
1) Click Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall
2) Click Allow a Program or Feature through Windows Firewall
3) Click Change Settings button.
4) Click Allow another Program button.
5) Click Browse button.
6) Select pdlice.exe (by default, it s C:\WIN32APP\INGR\SPLM\bin folder)
7) Click Open button to close Browse window.
8) Click Add button to close Add a Program dialog box.
9) Back to the Allowed Programs window, select SPLM and click Details button in
Allowed Programs list to make sure you see pdlice.exe in the file path, and then
close
the dialog box.
10) Back to the Allowed Programs dialog box, make sure Domain, Home/Work (Privat
e)
and Public all selected for SPLM.
11) Click OK to close Firewall dialog window
