FROM JESUS
VOLUME 2
2008
WAYNE O’CONNER
EVERAYONE KNOWS IT’S JESUS! (last line of each stanza is group chorus)
Who was in the grave for three days, but rose again triumphant?
Everyone knows it’s Jesus!
I (Wayne O’Conner) had a song in a dream on the evening of December 5th 2007
that sounds similar to the old pop tune “Every One Knows It’s Wendy.”
I should have recorded the tune, right away, when I recorded the words, but it
seemed such a simple tune. I skipped that part of the process. When I tried to
sing the new song the next day I had lost the tune. I prayed, became frustrated
as I tried unsuccessfully to remember the tune, and was about to go on to
something else, when my friend Mark Wilkinson called. He knew the tune to that
old pop song, “Every One Knows It’s Wendy.” I only needed to hear the first bar
of music and the tune came back.
When I shared this song publicly the first time, a lady in the group said that the
chorus stanza wasn’t really true. According to a very narrow definition that
comment has merit. However, even many unbelievers, having heard Christmas &
Easter messages, have at least a rudimentary knowledge of Jesus being born of a
virgin and being crucified for the sins of mankind. Although there may be
exceptions, for the most part, one has to travel to the most remote places of the
world to find a man or woman who has absolutely no knowledge whatsoever
about Jesus Christ. Many know Jesus only as a curse word or vague religious
concept. Many others know Jesus Christ as a name not to be uttered, as it will
lead to imprisonment or execution. But for those who truly love J.C. it doesn’t
matter because their love for Him is stronger than their fear.
Many Americans have heard salvation messages and know about Jesus and his
gift of eternal life. Multitudes of people know about Jesus. Of that multitude a
lesser number know a great deal of specific information about Jesus. A still
smaller number of people know Jesus personally! Now if you know about Jesus
that is good, but it is much better to know Him personally as Savior and Master.
Also, it is written that one day every knee shall bow and every tongue confess
that Jesus is Lord!
Rom 14:10-11
10 … For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written:
"As I live, says the LORD, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall
confess to God."
NKJV
Phil 2:5-11
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form
of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no
reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8
And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became
obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also
has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those
on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. NKJV
This dream song has been very elusive. Like my other dream songs, it is
stylistically much like the Early Church chants and is quite different from the
hymns that came in later centuries or modern melodies. I have had this dream a
few times in the last several years but I could never quite get it. Recently I had
another song in the dream and I only received one line and couldn’t get that one
either. I prayed about it just before I visited the Darren & Amy Lang’s for the first
time and also talked to them about this issue during the visit. It seemed as if I
heard in my Spirit that the Lord was saying, “You haven’t sought Me earnestly
enough about the “Overcomers Song.” Finish that and I will give you the song “I
have given you every thing you need. ”
What has made “The Overcomers Song” a bit more challenging than usual is that
sometimes it kind of sounds like the secular song “Holding Out For a Hero,” sang
by Bonne Tyler and some sections sounded like a song by a male vocalist (Gordon
Lightfoot perhaps) with the lyrics, “just like an old time novel, about a ghost from
a wishing well.” To make it more complicated at one time the dream may have
had a certain section that sounded like the tune from the female vocalist and the
next time that section would sound like the tune from the male vocalist’s song.
Additionally, I remembered certain concepts like kingdom, the Lord’s Prayer,
overcomers, sin, self, Satan, and continuing to walk, rather than just making an
initial pledge, and having a relationship more than just an association with Jesus
and the Holy Spirit, but not consistent specific lyrics. I became frustrated with it
and just gave up and more than once in the last several years. But after visiting
the Lang’s I was able to write the lyrics with very little editing, much like when I
received the poetry for THE FORGOTTEN PROPHET’S BOOK OF DREAMS.
However, even though the lyrics in the dream songs differed, the dream itself was
always the same. I was standing outside a broken down log cabin near a dried up
oasis with sand dunes stretching in all directions as far as the eyes could see. The
Lord would tell me to sing to Him about the rains and the rains would come
In the dream, once the rains came, they came so fast and so fully that the desert
flooded. That was when the Lord commanded me to sing limiting the rains. Then
as the rains diminished and the flooding receded, He commanded a song for
growth. Then the waters receded and both trees and grass began to grow so tall
and thick that one would need machetes or axes to chop a path through it.
Like with the rain, I was commanded to sing a song that began diminishing the
heavy jungle growth. Then the jungle trees (actually the tree were deciduous
rather than normal jungle types) and grasses receded and then the surroundings
became a lush, park-like plain, with ankle high grass.
Last I was commanded to sing a song calling forth the overcomers. The
overcomers began to gather in small groups to rest and train. Some would be
sent out, and come back intermittently for more rest and training.
So there were actually several stages to the song part of the dream. There was a
song about sending the rain and another about growing a lush garden in the
desert. I can’t remember the words for those two songs.
And of course there were editing and pruning type songs for the rains and grass
and tree growth. I can’t remember anything more about those either.
Not only did the rains come, but also the desert turned into a fertile plain at an
unnatural rate of speed. Once the fertile plains came then saints came.
These saints were different than your average Christian. They weren’t at all
religious, but they were totally dedicated to Lord. - overcomers in every sense of
the word.
They would come to the fertile plain for short times of rest and training, and then
go out into the world in service of Christ’s Kingdom.
These saints weren’t militant and demanding, but rather dedicated, disciplined,
and loved others more than themselves, and exhibited a deep and genuine love
and devotion, not only to Jesus, but also to their brothers and sisters. They had a
powerful inner glow that drew some people and repelled others – even within the
so- called “Church.” They weren’t dogmatic or argumentative, or given to thorny
personality types and generally were very humble and kind.
The dream song that I’m recording is actually the last stage – the call to the
overcomers. And that last section actually seems to be two different songs and
an ending stanza that pulled sections from the other two songs. In some of the
dreams they intertwined together while in other dreams they seemed to be
separated.
Why do we pray
My kingdom first?
My kingdom first?
Oh-oh-oh-oh my Father
Your Kingdom come
Your will be done
May Jesus have preeminence.
All preeminence.
May the Holy Spirit have freedom
To do Your will.
To do Your will.
Jesus I want to be
An overcomer
Lord For You!
Jesus I want to be
An overcomer
Lord For You!

Everything I Need
I had the first line of this in a dream just before I visited the Lang’s in Annandale in September 08; a few
rd
weeks later, I think it was the morning of Tuesday the 23 , I dreamed that I was writing this song. I didn’t
hear it sung, but I already had the tune from when I got the first line. I didn’t remember the song perfectly.
For example, I didn’t figure out until later that the six I need you Jesus lines were divided into two sets of 3
lines and alternated. Also I knew I’d written the Kingdom Gospel and Kingdom Prayer stanzas, in the dream,
was working on the exact wording when the young man sat down. I thought it said apostles in the dream,
but I couldn’t get that to fit, in real life, so I put Peter, Paul & John & company.
Another thing interesting about the dream is that I was meeting with Dick’s fellowship, but we were meeting
at a coffee house. I came early to practice the song. A tall, dark haired young man came and sat down
across from me and said he was visiting the fellowship, but had come early to pray. He asked if I’d brought
anything to share. He began asking if the song needed more work and if it were really scripturally
acceptable. Not long after that he had a phone call and said that something had come up, and that he would
try to visit another meeting. As he was leaving a sticky note fell out of his Bible. It had two notes on it. 1)
Discourage Wayne about singing the song. 2) You’ll meet one of the hosts. An old man named Dick.
Whatever Dick says, whether you agree or not, say, agree with him.
CALLING
Dreamed the morning of January 21st, 2010. Sung to a tune close to the chorus, “He Is Able.”
