We were delighted to see our

Minister,Joe,when he popped in for a few
minutes last Thursday. We have been
praying for Joe as he has gone through
surgery and are glad to report that he is
progressing well. Joe was pleased with his
get well card (see above) and the little
gifts that we sent to him.We will continue
to remember Joe and Violet in our prayers
and look forward to having him back
when he has fully recovered.

Stables who were very supportive of our group as
we set up our club in October 2013, and since then
they have provided moving and handling training
for our volunteers. It would be good to support
them in their fundraising morning on October 3rd.

This month sees the first of our 26 Memory Walks kicking off in Milngavie, Oban

FRIENDS OF THE LUNCH CLUB

As well as our volunteers who attend the lunch club each week, we
have a number of friends who support us in different ways. This week
we feature Elizabeth, one of our older helpers who is 93 years young!
Elizabeth is a beautiful knitter and helps us produce the blankets for
the babies in Malawi by knitting together the squares we have
produced.
Elizabeth has a very interesting story to tell; at the age of 18 she
started her training as a State Registered Nurse then joined the
prestigious Queen Alexandras Royal Army Nursing Corps and
thereafter served in Germany and the Far East throughout the war.
The photograph shows Elizabeth in her Sisters Uniform, together
with her late husband who was an Officer in the Gordon Highlanders.
I hope that we may be able to persuade Elizabeth to come along to the
club and chat to us about her amazing experiences.

University of Tasmania Understanding Dementia online course

I know that some of our volunteers, carers and others outwith the
club have applied for this course. It has been suggested that we
could perhaps have a self-help group, meeting every few weeks
during the course. if this would be of interest to you please email me
at issidawson@aol.com
