Newsletter
As Salamu Alaykum, Greetings, Tena Koutou, Welcome!

Children News
New Students - We would like to welcome many new students: Adam, Adeeba, Ammar, Husna,
Sofia, Theo, and Wafiy.
Graduation - We celebrated Bilals graduation party in June. He is now settled into school and
we wish him all the best.
Trip to the public Library Our children love to read books and stories. So last term we planned
a trip to Dunedin public library. We had to walk to the bus stop on Princes Street, which was 1km
away. Physical exercise is very important and a very good way to begin any day. Then we
travelled by bus to the library. Our children enjoyed a story telling session in the library with lots
of other kids.
Quran and Arabic Programme Alhamdulillah, T. Nourah has begun using a new programme for
teaching Arabic. There are four levels and we have children in all levels and each child is learning
at their own pace.

Management News
ERO VisitThe Education Review officers came to review our centre. They did a thorough check
and were very happy with our improvements. AlhamdulilAllah we received a very good report.
We are proud of ourselves.
Reviews We are actively working on our planned self reviews. Angela OConnor, Interlead
Education consultant gave us a PD session on in depth internal review about positive guidance
(behaviour management). We are still working on it. We urge our parents to actively participate
so that our children learn to behave positively. We also reviewed our Mathematical programme.
Children are now more interested in math activities.

Staff News
New Staff - We welcomed T. Fouzia, and T. Asiya to our staff team. Both of them are going on
holiday for a few weeks. T. Mahira worked while T. Madiha was away on leave. T. Israa left for
her maternity leave and we congratulate her and her on the birth of their new baby boy.
Curriculum - The term theme for term 2 for both U/2 and O/2 was Mathematical Concepts of
Young Children. The planned programme was rich with lots of mathematical activates in
ourweekly plan. The learning intentions and outcomes for U/2 and O/2, programme evaluation
example of weekly plan are all uploaded in our blog for your view. We added lots of new math
activities on our shelf. The wall poster shows children are engaged in mathematical activities.
The term theme for next term is Develop Social Skills.
Prepared Environment - We believe children develop themselves by acting according to their
inner needs. Thus they need freedom in a prepared environment. We make sure our classroom
is ready for the children so that they can choose activities in their own time and pace.
Events and Celebration - our blessed month Ramadan came and gone so quickly. We tried to do
the best out of it. Our preparation started before Ramadan started. During the Ramadan our
children had been busy with lots of Ramadan activities, practicing Quran recitation for Quran
competition. AlhamdulilAllah our Eid celebration and Quran competition went well.
Professional Development - We have been participating in an ongoing mathematics PD
workshop, and sharing the information with other staff and using the knowledge with children.
We also proudly hosted a math workshop. Lots of teachers all over Dunedin attended in this
workshop. Every centre had to present something about early childhood math. We are proud to
say that our presentation was the best.

Notes for Parents:

1. Please keep
reading your childs
learning stories. We
also would like to
hear your feedback.
2. Thank you for
sending healthy food
choices for your
children. Keep it up
for our Healthy
Heart Award.
3. Children have a
shorter attention
span than adults. We
kindly request late
comers to help us
integrate your child
quickly so that the
learning
environment isnt
disrupted
4. As much as we
love that our centre
brings parents
together to
communicate, we
also urge you to do
so outside the
classroom. It can get
crowded easily and
also the staff get
distracted
5. Would you like
homework for your
child? Please speak
to the teachers and
we can arrange
some work for your
child.
