AbouttheProgramme
Foodsafetyisafundamentalpublichealthconcern.TheFoodSafetyandQualityhasbecomeanareaofpriorityandnecessityforconsumers,retailers,
manufacturersandregulators.Changingglobalpatternsoffoodproduction,internationaltrade,technology,publicexpectationsforhealthprotectionand
manyotherfactorshavecreatedahugedemandforfoodsafetyandqualityauditingprofessionals.
IGNOUandAPEDAhavecometogethertolaunchthisprogramme,thefirstsuchinitiativeinIndia,withanemphasisonpracticalproficiency
developmentexercises.Thisprogrammeisexpectedtomeettheincreasinghumanresourcerequirementsforfoodsafetyandqualitymanagement
professionalsintheagricultureandfoodsectors.
Objectives
Thecoreobjectiveoftheprogrammeistodevelopprofessionalsfordevelopment,implementationandauditingofFoodSafetyandQualityManagement
inthecountry.ItseekstodevelopIndiascapabilitytomeettheglobalfoodsafetyandqualityrequirementsandenhancecompetitivenessoffood
products.Inlongtermperspective,itwouldcontributetoensureconsumersafetywithinandoutsidethecountry.
