who go beyond what is expected of them to create exceptional learning experiences for children.
The White Rose Award is given each year to recognize these individuals. This person should be an early child‐
hood professional who is committed to the active support of the children’s greatest social, physical, emo‐
tional and intellectual potential. If you would like to nominate someone for this award, please complete the

Early Childhood Action Day
We all already know early childhood education is key. But do the people who fund our programs know? That
is the goal of Early Childhood Action Day on June 8th, 2010. This annual event aims to bring early childhood
supporters from across the state together to meet, educate and thank legislatures for their support of ECE
programs. They day kicks off with registration. Here you can grab a coffee and some information about your
legislatures, key topics and talking points. You can even attend training on advocacy. From there you will
walk to the capitol building where you can meet with your legislators to discuss the importance of ECE fund‐
ing. At 1:00pm there will be a rally on the capitol steps calling all to raise awareness of critical programs. This
year, there will be an evening banquet to recognize excellence in the field. If you recognize the importance of
great programs such as Keystone Stars, Pre‐K Counts, Head Start, Child Care Works and TEACH, we hope to
see you there. If you have any questions, please contact Sara Bosley, Public Policy Chair, at
sbosley@ywcayork.org.
