ORDER

The petitioner is a domestic consumer under Electrical Section,

Peroorkada. His grievance is with regard to the low voltage and
voltage

flickering

experiencing

in

his

locality,

when

the

compressor works in the nearby tyre shop.

The opposite party Assistant Executive Engineer, Electrical Sub

Division, Vellayambalam was intimated about this complaint on
26/12/2013 and their version was received

on 24/1/2014.

It

stated that, when the matter was informed a detailed site

inspection was carried out by their team and the following were
noticed.

The motor rating of the reciprocating type air

compressor in the workshop is having a name plate showing 2

HP. But, actually the motor was drawing a current of 9.2 Amp on

no load and 17 Amp on full load current.

This shows that the

motor is drawing huge current and was not a standard one.

Hence the voltage dips during the double piston reciprocating
compressor loading of the motor. The details were conveyed to
the workshop owner and a letter was given to him on 16/1/2014
giving 15 days time to take necessary action to replace the motor
with a three phase one and also to convert the service connection
from single phase to three phase.

Further, the workshop owner replaced the compressor with a

different one having single phase motor. Our team inspected the
site and noticed that the replaced motor was drawing a current of
2.6 Amp on No load and 9 Amp on full load current, which shows
that the motor loading is considerably reduced. The complainant
was informed about the changes made in the workshop and the
complainant appraised us that the flickering of the supply was
almost gone. Thereby the grievance of the consumer has been
rectified.

The petitioner also tendered a statement on 21/2/2014, to the

effect that the Assistant Executive Engineer, Electrical Sub
Division, Vellayambalam personally verified the matter and

his

grievance is rectified.

As the opposite party has taken appropriate actions to rectify the

grievance of the petitioner, no further intervention of the forum is
necessary and as such the petition stands closed.

6.

No order as to cost.
If the petitioner is not satisfied with the above order of this

Forum, he is at liberty to prefer appeal before the Electricity

Ombudsman within 30 days from the date of receipt of this order.
