2015 Golden Key Scholarships & Awards

Advisor Professional Development Grant


Deadline: 15 June 2015
This grant allows current Golden Key chapter advisors the ability to
attend professional development conferences or pursue research within
their academic disciplines. Additionally, this grant may be used to
attend Golden Key conferences.
Emphasis will be placed on dedication and involvement to Golden Key,
professional interests and use of funds and recommendation from local
chapter members.
Only current Golden Key advisors are eligible to apply.
Up to 2 $1,000 (USD) scholarships will be granted.
Alumni Professional Development Grant
Deadline: 15 December 2015
This grant allows Golden Key alumni to attend professional
development conferences or pursue research. This grant may be used to
attend Golden Key conferences.
Emphasis will be placed on professional goals and how this grant will
help you achieve those goals.
Consideration will also be placed on how you uphold the pillars of
academics, leadership and service in your post-graduate life.
Must be a Golden Key alumni member who has a non student status.
Up to 2 $1,000 (USD) awards will be granted.
Chartering Officer Scholarship
Deadline: 15 December 2015
This scholarship will recognize Golden Key members who have
chartered or re-chartered their local chapter in the 2013-2014 academic
year.
Emphasis will be placed on impact made in forming the chapter,
commitment to Golden Keys pillars and letter of recommendation
from local chapter advisor.
Must be a current undergraduate or graduate member (FT or PT) and be
enrolled in a degree-granting program at time of application deadline.
Must have been a member who was a charter/re-charter chapter officer.
Chapter must have conducted/will be conducting their first
membership drive in the 2013-2014 academic year.
Up to 2 $1,000 (USD) scholarships will be granted.
Community Service Award
Deadline: (5) 15 June 2015 & (5) 15 December 2015
The Golden Key Community Service Award recognizes members for
outstanding and impactful service to the community.
Emphasis will be placed on amount of service, impact of service and
outside extracurricular involvement.
Must be a current undergraduate or graduate member (FT or PT) and be
enrolled in a degree-granting program at time of application deadline.
Must have accumulated 100 hours of community service through a
nonprofit organization over a lifetime of volunteering. (This cannot be
a paid volunteer opportunity).
Up to 10 $2,000 (USD) awards will be granted.
Education Debt Reduction Award
Deadlines: (5) 15 June 2015 & (5) 15 December 2015
This award assists members with the repayment of student loans.
Emphasis will be placed on professional goals and plans for the future,
listing of student loans and impact this award would have on a
members current financial situation.
Must be an alumni, graduate or post-graduate member who has
obtained a degree at the time of application deadline.
Up to 10 $10,000 (USD) awards will be granted.

Education Development Grant


Deadline: 15 June 2015
This grant allows current Golden Key members the ability to attend
professional development conferences or research conferences within
their academic disciplines. Additionally, this grant may be used to
attend Golden Key conferences.
Emphasis will be placed on dedication and involvement to Golden Key,
professional and educational interests and use of funds and
recommendation from local faculty and/or staff.
Must be a current undergraduate or graduate member (FT or PT) and be
enrolled in a degree-granting program at time of application deadline.
Must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Up to 5 $2,500 (USD) scholarships will be granted.
Emerging Scholar Award
Deadline: 15 June 2015
This program recognizes outstanding sophomore members who have
made a difference in their chapter.
Emphasis will be placed on how the student exemplifies Golden Keys
pillars of academics, leadership and service.
Applicant must be a second-year undergraduate student and joined as a
Golden Key member in the fall of 2014 to be eligible. And, must be
enrolled in a degree-granting program at time of application deadline.
Up to 2 $2,500 (USD) scholarships will be granted.
GEICO Life Scholarship
Deadlines: (5) 15 June 2015 & (5) 15 December 2015
This award recognizes outstanding members who achieve academic
excellence while balancing additional personal commitments (such as
full-time work, family, etc.).
Emphasis will be placed on academic achievements,
educational/professional goals and any obstacles one has had to
overcome to get there.
Must be a current undergraduate member (FT or PT) working towards a
baccalaureate degree. And, must be enrolled in a degree-granting
program at time of application deadline.
Must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Up to 10 $1,000 (USD) scholarships will be granted.
Graduate Scholar Award
Deadlines: (10) 15 June 2015 & (10) 15 December 2015
This is Golden Keys premier scholarship. It supports members postbaccalaureate study at accredited universities anywhere in the world.
Emphasis will be placed on why the student is continuing their
education, future academic goals and career goals, as well as how the
student feels that can truly create change in the future.
Must be either a FT or PT members in a post-baccalaureate program of
study at an accredited institution at the time of application OR FT or PT
member in an undergraduate program who will be enrolled in a postbaccalaureate program in the academic year immediately following the
granting of the award.
Emphasis will be place on involvement around GKs pillars of
academics, leadership and service, as well as involvement with the
students local Golden Key chapter.
Up to 20 $10,000 (USD) scholarships will be granted.

2015 Golden Key Scholarships & Awards


Joan Nelson Study Abroad Scholarship
Deadline: 15 December 2015
This scholarship assists members who are going to participate in a study
abroad program. This scholarship has been named in honor of Joan
Nelson, who was a beloved Golden Key advisors, dedicated board
member, mentor, leader, and friend to many in the Golden Key
community. In addition to her 30 years of administrative service at the
University of California, Los Angeles, Joan volunteered 25 years of
service as a champion for Golden Keys mission and was a role model
to students.
Emphasis will be placed on study abroad program, as well as
involvement and impact with local Golden Key chapter.
FT or PT undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate members who are
currently enrolled in a study abroad program or will be enrolled within
one year following the granting of this award.
Must be enrolled in a degree-granting program at time of application
deadline.
Must be a Golden Key member.
Study abroad experience must count towards academic credit.
Study abroad program cannot have been completed prior to the
application deadline date.
1 Annual $7,500 (USD) scholarship will be granted in honor of Joan
Nelson.
Living the Mission Award
Deadline: 15 June 2015
This award recognizes a Golden Key member that lives out the values
of the Society in all that they do. These values include: integrity,
collaboration, innovation, respect, diversity, excellence and engagement.
Nominees must possess a strong potential to create change in the world,
all the while living out their values.
Must be a current undergraduate or graduate member (FT or PT) and be
enrolled in a degree-granting program at time of application deadline.
Up to 3 $2,500 (USD) scholarships will be granted.

Study Abroad Scholarship


Deadlines: (7) 15 June 2015 & (7) 15 December 2015
This scholarship assists members who are going to participate in a study
abroad program. With the global economy in todays world, Golden
Key feels it is crucial for members to have education-based study abroad
experiences.
Emphasis will be placed on how studying abroad will assist the student
in their future goals, as well as desire for trip and planned outcomes.
FT or PT undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate members who are
currently enrolled in a study abroad program or will be enrolled within
one year following the granting of this award.
Must be enrolled in a degree-granting program at time of application
deadline.
Study abroad experience must count towards academic credit.
Study abroad program cannot have been completed prior to the
application deadline date.
Up to 14 $5,000 (USD) scholarships will be granted.
Undergraduate Achievement Scholarship
Deadlines: (10) 15 June 2015 & (10) 15 December 2015
This award recognizes Golden Key members for their excellence
throughout their undergraduate careers.
Emphasis will be placed upon academic excellence and how this
individual lives out the values of Golden Key on a daily basis.
Must be a current undergraduate or graduate member (FT or PT) and be
enrolled in a degree-granting program at time of application deadline.
GPA minimum of a 3.5 out of a 4.0 scale.
Up to 20 $5,000 (USD) scholarships will be granted.

Military Service Scholarship


Deadline: 15 June 2015
This scholarship will recognize and award Golden Key members who
are actively engaged in the military or public service.
Emphasis will be placed on educational goals, length and type of service
as well as obstacles that one has had to overcome to reach educational
goals.
Must be a current undergraduate or graduate member (FT or PT) and be
enrolled in a degree-granting program at time of application deadline.
Must currently be serving (active, reserve, national guard, or equivalent)
in a branch of service within the United States, Australia, Canada, New
Zealand, India, Malaysia, South Africa or the Bahamas.
Up to 3 $2,500 (USD) scholarships will be granted.
Research Grant
Deadlines: (10) 15 June 2015 & (10) 15 December 2015
This grant allows members to conduct thesis research and/or present
their research at professional conferences or student research symposia.
Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate member
(FT or PT) currently enrolled in classes in a degree-granting program.
Emphasis will be placed on academic achievement and quality of
research or presentation.
Up to 20 $2,500 (USD) scholarships will be granted.
