About ThermaSkirt ® & the DiscreteHeat Company

DiscreteHeat and ThermaSkirt® is the eco friendly heating solution. ThermaSkirt® is a
new and innovative way of heating your room. ThermaSkirt® makes the most of a
skirting board and radiator and turns it into effective, eco-friendly heating. Designed and
manufactured in the UK by DiscreteHeat Company Limited, the system replaces your

skirting boards and radiators in one. ThermaSkirt® will work with existing conventional
boilers as well as renewables technologies such as solar, ground source and air source
heat pumps.

ThermaSkirt® has been tested by

BSRIA and fully complies with BS-EN
442 & carries the CE mark and in a
like for like test against radiators was shown to be at least 13% more energy efficient.
With the correct boiler & control system, fuel savings of up to 25% are possible. In test
conditions, ThermaSkirt ® was proven to be the most efficient form of heating, giving the
best uniform heat distribution, with only a ±1°C variation, compared to a radiator with a
massive 13°C variation.

The effect of ThermaSkirt® is indistinguishable from under-floor heating in that it heats

the room from all sides and at low level, and yet it is as simple to fit as a radiator. As it is
as slim and discrete as a skirting board, it takes up very little wall or floor space. Because
it is above ground, it can be used with any floor construction or covering including timber
and carpet and warms up the room quickly.

DiscreteHeat has developed a complete range of patented push fit components so that
our installers can fit the system quickly. ThermaSkirt® even connects to existing
systems, and is ideal for both new build, extension and refurbishment applications.
Nearly 2,000 systems have been successfully installed to date.

ThermaSkirt® uses a unique aluminium alloy material that is 5 times more effective than
steel at passing heat & can run efficiently at temperatures as low as 35°C & as high as
85°C.

Fitted Furniture Plinth Heating

Using Thermaskirt® Plinth heaters means
you can now have units all round the
kitchen, bedroom or any room with fitted
furniture. The plinth heating panels are
easily fixed into place on the existing
plinths if required. The Urban LT 150mm
and Deco PR 125mm systems are most
suited to this application. Insulation may be
fitted between brackets to maximise the
heat transferred to the kitchen or bedroom.

It has - sort of. You may remember the cast iron heating pipes around the classroom or
work place ? A few companies made skirting level radiator systems in the past, but

face it if you told a plumber 10 years ago that most new houses would have plastic hot
water pipes and push-on connectors, he'd have laughed like a drain.

But materials, manufacturing techniques, and markets move on and houses have never
been so thermally efficient or space restricted. ThermaSkirt® is perfectly conceived,
designed and manufactured for the 21st century. The days of the radiator are numbered!

How does Thermaskirt® work

Simple. ThermaSkirt® is a hi-tech
aluminium alloy extrusion, with two
watertight channels ‘moulded’ into the
back. Patented connectors and covers
allow it to be installed all around the room
in a matter of minutes, and it connects
straight onto a conventional plumbed
system – just like a steel radiator.

Oh, and because it’s beautifully made and

finished, you’ll be delighted at how it looks
as a skirting. Because ThermaSkirt® is
made from an alloy that is 5 times more
effective at passing heat than steel, the
warm water from your boiler soon raises
the temperature of the ThermaSkirt® and
the room. Because it's all around your
room, within minutes you have a lovely
warm environment. Because it’s such a
clever idea you save heating costs, wall space and warm-up times.

What other benefits does Thermaskirt® offer

Where do I start? As the aluminum alloy polymer extrusion is epoxy powder coated, you
get a tough, durable, mark resistant finish that you simply cannot get with a brush. Not
even if you are Michael Angelo. You have a choice of skirting designs and standard
colours (and some not so standard). ThermaSkirt® is supplied with a unique, removable
colour coordinated ‘caulking gasket’ on the top edge. Not only does this eliminate any
gaps (i.e no filling required), but when you decorate, paper or paint, you simply remove it
first. Wallop away and then replace the caulking for a perfect result. No masking,
scrubbing off splashes or meticulously cutting in. Additionally, ThermaSkirt ® has a
removable lower cable cover.

Tired of unsightly speaker, telephone and TV cables snaking around the room? No
problem! Pop off the lower cover, feed your cables round to where you need and pop it
back on. Job done! Fitting carpets and laminate with conventional skirting can be a real
chore, especially if your floors are a bit uneven. The removable cable cover can
accommodate varying thickness of carpet and laminate and allow you to get them right
under and neatly finished. No frayed carpet edges on show or ghastly timber beading to
hide the gaps. Simply remove the cover, lay your flooring, and then replace the cover,
trimmed for depth if required. Magic! Bleeding radiators? A thing of the past with
ThermaSkirt ®. ThermaSkirt ® acts like a pipe and so under normal circumstances it
cannot trap air in it.
