The Water is on at the parsonage! Thanks to everyone who has

provided labor and financial support to the repair projects at the

Kits for the Iowa-Nigeria Project

We currently have 13 layettes done and 16 school bags. We are in need
of more sleepers or gowns, diapers and diaper pins. All of the kits need to
be in by mid October. Items can be placed on the table on the east wall
in the fellowship hall. Thanks to everyone who has given so generously!

Newsletter of the United Church of Primghar

September 2015- Volume 9

Its hard to believe another month has passed, and what a

month August was! My family was able to go to Boston, my motherin-law was able to visit while my husband traveled to Seattle to get
some work done with the Presbyterians, I was able to get a bit more
into the groove of things, and the repairs are going well on the parsonage (though there are still a few things to go). My kids are excited to
see the new school year get underway.
At Tommys orientation I was greeted by a child who yelled out, Hi, Pastor! and I was happy to say
hi back and be recognized by someone so young. Children really are the future of the church. Often times,
for some of these young people, activities such as WWW and VBS are the only Christian education that they
will receive, and it is amazing when we are able to see some of the fruit ripen from the seeds we have planted. We are blessed to have an opportunity to reach all of these young people and try to instill in them what it
means to be a Christian.
As we close out the month, I plan on having a meeting to discuss with the youth (6th grade and up)
who are not yet members (and parents) who wish to accept the responsibility of their baptisms for themselves
and join the church as full members. This is a class that is in no way to be seen as a graduation but rather a
starting point for their Christian faith to be able to continue to grow and blossom.
I would also like to encourage all people in the church to take a moment to prayerfully consider how
they can support the ministry with the young people. As Christians we need to invest in the future of our
church, and faithfully respond as the Spirit has called to us. We are in need of teachers, helpers, people who
can help with meals, people who can help clean, and even people who can just help observe.
Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to
such as these. Matthew 19:14

If you are aware of someone in need of a pastoral call, please inform Pastor Kris at the office, 9574960 or cell 712-344-2846. She would rather hear from multiple sources than from no one at all. In
these times of privacy rights, hospitals and nursing homes may not divulge information relating to
a resident or patient, so it is very important that members and/or their families let the Pastor know
of all needs for pastoral care.
