Cordillera Career Development College, March 2015.Computer
literacy of Police Officers in Baguio City.
Adviser: Jackie Lou G. Miguel
This study was conducted to determine the computer literacy
of police officers in Baguio City. Specifically, the study sought
to; 1) determine the level of competency of the police officers
in utilizing computer hardware; 2) determine the level of
competency of police officers in using computer software or
program; 3) to find out the perceived hindrances among PNP
personnel in learning or improving their computer skills.
Furthermore, it was conducted to compare it with the
findings that were gathered by the past researchers (Cayap, et
al.) which were conducted in the municipality of La Trinidad,
Benguet in the year 2014.
Based on the research conducted, the police officers in
Baguio City are knowledgeable on how to manipulate computer
hardware as proven by the study which obtained an average
weighted mean of 3.11 interpreted as much literate.
In addition, it was also revealed by the research conducted
that when it comes to utilizing computer software, the Baguio
police officers

are good in Microsoft word with a weighted mean

of 3.08, Microsoft Power Point with a weighted mean of 2.76,

Microsoft Excel with a weighted mean of 2.76, and using Internet
with a weighted mean of 3.01 interpreted as Much literate, but
when it comes to Microsoft publisher they gained a weighted mean
4

of 2.44 interpreted as slightly literate which indicates that

they need more trainings to be popularized in the computer
software.
The research finally shows that the hindrances in Baguios
police officers in learning computer are: lack of training on
computer utilization, lack of computers to use, insufficient
skills or knowledge in utilizing computers and inappropriate
trainings on computer utilization.
The researchers recommend that the Philippine National
Police should conduct more computer education programs to ensure
that all of its members are computer literate.
Descriptive-Survey method was used to gather the
quantitative data for this study. Questionnaire was utilized to
elicit the information needed for the research.

Miguel and the indispensable assistance of our statistician Mrs.
Fabiola Lucop.
We also want to express our deepest gratitude to our parents
who supported us in every way. We thank you for urging us to go
