NASCAR UPDATE Vol.

3
February 28, 2010

Track: Las Vegas Motorspeedway

Race Winner:

Different week. Same Winner. The 48 car usually does not start off this hot out of the
gate so this could be a very long year for fans of any other car out there. Gordon took the
lead on the first lap and led for 218 laps of the 267 total laps in the Shelby American
Race at Las Vegas Motorspeedway. The race went under caution two times for problems
with the caution light coming on randomly.
Kim Kardashian sponsored the #36 car run by Mike Bliss.

. However, the REAR of the car proved to

be just too big as the 36 car hit the wall early on and was done for the day.

Slick pit boxes proved to be an issue for several drivers throughout the day. Teams
supported Coke in full force as they dumped can after can onto pit road to try and get the
cars to stick better. The 18 used a little too much and so they had to try and clean up the
mess.

Race Rank
Jim Hunter 14 Tony Stewart 7th 11th Consistent once again. Top 10
finish is about as routine as it
gets. It’s what you need to
make the chase and have a shot
at the championship. The wins
will come as the temperature
increases. He was enjoying the
slick track.
Allan King 99 Carl Edwards 12th 10th Daddy Edwards had a solid run
throughout the day. 39 races
since his last trip to victory
lane. Look for him to end that
soon.
Jennifer Hunter 5 Mark Martin 4th 3rd “Nothin but sweet” Martin will
soon have a name change to
“Top 5 Martin”. If he can do
that in the chase, he will have a
shot at the championship that
he has wanted for so long.
Jimmy Hunter 18 Kyle Busch 15th 12th Pit road speeding penalty
Cathy Hunter killed the 18’s day. Took the
blame as he locked up the tires
entering pit road and couldn’t
take off enough speed. Had a
top 5 car, but definitely not a
winning car. His sponsor is
looking forward to seeing him
in action next weekend. Editor
II plans to have pictures from
the race to include in next
week’s issue.
Shelley Hunter 48 Jimmie Johnson 1st 5th This is going to get old
extremely fast. Took the lead
from the 24 and never looked
back. Knaus was happy to go
stand next to the girl with the
blue feathers. Lady luck
wasn’t needed this week. Has
made up 30 spots in the
standings the last 2 weeks.
Vegas Burnout
Rebecca Hunter 9 Kasey Kahne 9th 23rd 9th place for the 9 car. Ran
over his air hose, but that
didn’t slow him down.
Worked his way up to a top 10
at the end of the day when it
mattered most.
Steve Haynie 11 Denny Hamlin 19th 22nd Never was a contender. Stayed
about 20th all race long. Think
he needs a pep talk from his
sponsor.
Jason Dietz 88 Dale Earnhardt, 16th 15th No problems on pit road this
Matt Wells Jr week. Ran well at the
beginning of the race, but he
needs to run well for the whole
race.
Melisa Finfer 2 Kurt Busch 35th 19th Got caught up in the 1 and 42
wreck. Had the pole, but never
led a lap.
Kristen Consolo 20 Juan Pablo 37th 26th Not a happy camper with his
“Taco” teammate, McMurray. Called
Montoya him out on TV and will be
having a team meeting this
week. Maybe the car he was
driving was not big enough for
the 1 to see? Click to see.
JPM v McMurray

Mike Hunter 98 Paul Menard 17th 17th Another top 20 finish for the
98 car. Building the
consistency. His sponsor is
definitely excited about this
and not being in dead last of
the NU Nation. Dega race is 8
weeks away.
Willie 39 Greg Biffle 10th 6th Biffle leading the stable at
Roush Fenway. Had a little
problem with pit road, but
made it back up to get a top 10
finish.
Kurt Alexander 56 Martin Truex Jr. 20th 21st Not a great day for the 56, but
a lot better than last week
blowing an engine.
Jason Sayewich 20 Joey Logano 6th 8th Almost nipped Kenseth at the
line for a 2nd straight top 5.
Leading the JGR stable of
drivers. His sponsor will be
looking for a strong finish
from him at ATL.
RJ’s (Richmond 24 Jeff Gordon 3rd 13th Dominant car all day. Led 218
John and laps, but one of those laps led
Richmond Jan) was not the one that matters.
Has to be getting frustrated
that the 48 constantly wins.
Great day for HMS though
with 3 in top 4. Wonder why
that 4th car can’t get up there
too?

Vegas is done and NASCAR is on their way to AMS for the

Kobalt Tools 500. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate as you
never know what you will get when you combine the Editor II’s
attendance at a NASCAR race. He will do his best to provide
insight, pictures, and analysis from the whole weekend of racing.
