Dear Shamsun,
We are pleased to advise that you have been successful in your application to study the NZIM Certificate in
Small Business Management Full Time starting 8 February 2010 and finishing 25 June 2010 which runs for
20 weeks at Whitireia Community Polytechnic.
1. Read, date and sign the Students Acceptance Form, page 3, and return it to Whitireia Polytechnic.
2. Pay the total fee $7,350.27 (NZ$) as outlined on page 2. Payment instructions are provided to
you on page 4.
3. In order to apply for a student visa / permit you will need to show evidence of this Offer of Place letter
and the fees payment receipt with your application. If you are already in New Zealand, and have paid
your fees, Whitireia Community Polytechnic offers an Online Student Visa Renewal service at the charge
of $150.
4. Whitireia Community Polytechnic guarantees to find home stay accommodation for international
students who request it. You must let us know immediately if you want accommodation organised for
you.
5. Under the Code of Practice, international students must have appropriate and current medical and
travel insurance while studying in New Zealand. We enclose a Unicare medical insurance brochure.
You can use your own Medical Insurance Company, as long as:
- It covers the same benefits as Unicare, see pages 6 & 7.
- You provide us with an Insurance Policy in English from your own insurance company.

Whitireia Community Polytechnic guarantees accommodation in home stays for international students
when requested.The cost of living in Home stays in Porirua is $200 per week and includes three meals a
day. All students have their own room. All students are required to give two weeks notice before leaving a
home stay.
Details of the orientation sessions will be available on the international section of the website
www.whitireia.ac.nz or via information posted on campus or txt messages to students’ cell phones.
If you prefer to purchase your own insurance, please make sure it meets the standards set by the Code of
Practice. If you present us with an insurance policy that meets the requirements within seven days of your
studies commencing we will refund you the cost of the insurance we have purchased for you.
Living Expenses
It is important to bring enough money for living when you come to New Zealand. Some things are
expensive, like a haircut, but other things, like a game of golf, are cheap. We recommend allowing
approximately NZ$200.00 per week for living costs. This would cover accommodation, food and other
living expenses. Living expenses for a full year’s study is approximately NZ$10,000.00
