press the cervical vertebras and lift and stretch the

patient's head in order to enlarge the space between
the vertebras fully and give a pressure violently and
swiftly by the holding hand. In this moment, the spinous process could be felt to slide to the opposite
side. Sometimes, the patient could hear a sound.
If no deviation or rotation of the spinous process
could be seen in Xlray image, the practitioner should
stand at the lateral side of the patient, and hold the
temple and neck by one hand and uphold the opposite
lower chin with the another hand, to rotate the head
leftward or rightward slowly by simultaneous and coordinative movements of the two hands. When the
head is rotated to a comparatively large angle (no
more than 60~ then the head is quickly pulled by a
"force of swift motion".
2. Control group
Some herbal preparations were administrated orally,
in combination of Chinese massage used in the treatment group.
In the two groups, the treatment was given once
every day, with ten times as one course of the treatments. After two courses of the treatments, the therapeutic effects were observed.
Therapeutic Effects
1. Criteria of therapeutic effects
Cure: The symptoms disappeared completely and
the patient was able to work normally. No recurrence
was found in the follow-up for half a year.
Remarkable Effect: The symptoms basically disappeared, but slight insidious pain still happened due to
fatigue or emotional irritation.
Effect:The symptoms were relieved and the problem only attacked once or twice a month.
Failure: The symptoms were not relieved or were
aggravated before and after treatments.

2. Therapeutic results
In comparison between the treatment group and
control group, Ridit analysis showed Rtre,'.... =

was better than that in control group.

Discussion
It has been acknowledged long time ago that the
cervical diseases can lead to headache. Cervical headache is mostly caused by fatigue, traumatic injury,
hyperosteogeny, which lead to instability of the cervical vertebras, dysfunctions of the joints, dislocation
of the vertebral body, and further cause spasm of unilateral or bilateral vertebral and occipital muscles
and ligaments and compression or irritation on the
greater and smaller occipital nerves and supraorbital
nerve. Moreover, stress, over-fatigue and anxiety can
cause frequency occurrence of headache. Fengchi
(GB 20) has the functions to dredge the meridians
and stop pain. The injection of ligustrazine, Vitamin
Bt2, lidocaine and scopolamine into the acupoints can
obstruct the transmission of the nerves, stop pain, dilate the blood vessels and nourish the nerves. Manual
reduction can be used to correct the dislocated cervical vertebras and relieve compression on the vertebral
artery and guarantee the normal blood supply in the
brain. The acupoint-injecting method plus manual reduction can fully exert the satisfactory anesthetic
functions of the acupoints and medications and also
play a role in adjusting the bones and soothing the
tendons. The coordination of the two methods can elevate the therapeutic effect and achieve a better resuit.
