Discussion
It has been acknowledged long time ago that the
cervical diseases can lead to headache. Cervical headache is mostly caused by fatigue, traumatic injury,
hyperosteogeny, which lead to instability of the cervical vertebras, dysfunctions of the joints, dislocation
of the vertebral body, and further cause spasm of unilateral or bilateral vertebral and occipital muscles
and ligaments and compression or irritation on the
greater and smaller occipital nerves and supraorbital
nerve. Moreover, stress, over-fatigue and anxiety can
cause frequency occurrence of headache. Fengchi
(GB 20) has the functions to dredge the meridians
and stop pain. The injection of ligustrazine, Vitamin
Bt2, lidocaine and scopolamine into the acupoints can
obstruct the transmission of the nerves, stop pain, dilate the blood vessels and nourish the nerves. Manual
reduction can be used to correct the dislocated cervical vertebras and relieve compression on the vertebral
artery and guarantee the normal blood supply in the
brain. The acupoint-injecting method plus manual reduction can fully exert the satisfactory anesthetic
functions of the acupoints and medications and also
play a role in adjusting the bones and soothing the
tendons. The coordination of the two methods can elevate the therapeutic effect and achieve a better resuit.
