Jill: Explanation of role of facilitator’s role.

What I hope to get out of tonight for those I represent is…

Introductions:
Each attendee introduces him/herself, who they represent, and their hopes for the
outcome of this evening.
Those who spoke include: John B. Pauline, Raelene, Ross, Heather, Nicole, Liz,
Annie, Karen.

PURPOSE:
To gain a greater understanding of the needs and wants of all stakeholders, as a
basis of making a decision about the location of kinder/ multi-purpose community
centre
To agree on the options & criteria we need to make a decision.
To agree on criteria to take to next Sunday’s meeting.

ACTIVITY:
Plot, on a timeline, when you first became committed to working with others, for
the betterment of Flowerdale. Short informal de-briefing with group.

Discussion centering around: who runs the Kinder & Early Learning, the Maternal &
Child Health Centre, The Playgroup?

Liz: Community House is such that it needs a huge amount of space to operate its
functions, including Mental Health, Educational and Recreational Programs, Social
Workers, Centrelink, Food Share.

Discussions around the suitability of having kids areas close to mental health
areas.

Paula: Spoke of the development of Community House. Since Fires, increased


Mental Health Issues which come under the umbrella of Community House.
Community House dream is to fulfill the greater needs of our community.
Community House would like a new building to house MH services, food share
services, Counselling, Courses. As the State Govt hopes to offer services through
Community Houses, now is the time to build a Community House to meet these
purposes.

Louise: Need to not overlook the school in the overall picture, as the school needs
to be nurtured so that it is invested in for the future. Need to ensure our school is
the best school in the Village.

Raelene: Not all Flowerdale Kinder Families are from Flowerdale.

Karen: Jarrara owned by the Council who support the Kinder. Kinder do not rent
Jarrara – it is funded by Council.

Ric: Jarrara originally built as a Community Centre, but as kinder took over, space
was not available for community activities.
Liz: Spoke of recent grant application for Community House.

Kinder: Q. Who is supporting the Kinder now that it is located in the school
grounds?
A. Donations are paying for materials & everything. Fees just paying wages
(Raelene)

1. ACCESSABILITY – Pedestrian, Bike, Bus, Car, Creek Crossings.
2. LONG TERM VIABILITY – Adequate Funding for Kinder
Resources Vs Demand
3. SAFETY: Result of Royal Commission – Fire Safety Shelters will be put into
schools. Also co-location of MH Services. Also Road Safety.
4. PARKING:
5. FACILITY: suitable for Kids
6. CONNECTEDNESS
7. COMPATABILITY: BUILDING FOR GROWTH: we need to build for the future.
8. ALIGNMENT WITH POLICY: Eg sitting under existing govt regulations
