RYA - Powerboat Level 2

275 - 2 Day Course

Welcome to your Power boating course with Glaciere. The National Powerboating scheme is applicable to sports boats,
ribs, dories and launches which do not normally provide accommodation or cooking facilities and fall under the length of
10 metres.
Powerboating is a fun and exhilarating sport which is on the increase, and even though the UK doesnt operate
compulsory licensing, more and more areas are asking for proof of competence before they will allow you to launch. Put
this together with some insurance companies will offer you discounts on your insurance policy if you are certificated then
the level 2 certificate is a logical step if you plan to spend time on the water.
Aim: to teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats. The course may be conducted in a variety of boat types, both
planing and displacement and the certificate issued will be endorsed to show the type(s) of boat in which the training took
place. The minimum age for students is 12. The ratio of students to instructors should not exceed 3:1.
The syllabus will include the following practical boat handling exercises:- Launch and Recovery - Boat Handling - Securing
to a Buoy - Anchoring - Leaving and coming alongside - Man Overboard - Shore based theory is also included.
This course will run on coastal waters so a coastal endorsement is available.
