Theme: Tema:
Die jong man bly sy ma se kind, al het hy groot
geword en fisiek en fisigies verander.
The young man remains his moms child
although he has grown up and changed physically and emotionally. He hopes she will approve of the person he has become.
Opsomming:
Summary:
plat-op-die-aarde gedig gaan skryf.
The young man tells his mom that he is going to
write her a poem full of love that is simple and to the point. His poem differs from Antjie Krogs because he uses punctuation and doesnt refer to his mom in a disrespectful manner. He knows he has grown up and that a lot has changed. In the 2nd stanza he lists what has changed. He couldnt prevent himself from growing up and although a lot has matured he is still her child and still loves her.
Explanation:
He calls his mom mammie and this
shows love and respect. It is an informal poem and is written from his heart. He never calls his mom you but Antjie does in her poem. The poem is free verse, there are no capital letters or rhyme patterns. Alliteration; sommer so, nes The indentation is there to reinforce the theme of the poem: that the young man is grown up and has changed.
