SHS ID CARD

All students and staff are expected to visibly wear their SHS ID card while at school
throughout the entire day including lunch time. The districts goal of a Culture of Safety
supports this student and staff expectation as clearly visible SHS ID allows for quick and
easy recognition of students and staff during school hours. All students are provided one
free school ID and one free school lanyard. Replacement ID cards are not yet available,
please go to student office and get a temporary id card if you do not have an ID.

ASB CARDS

ASB cards are in! Starting today, come by room 1005 to pick up your card!

ATTN: STUDENTS

You need to follow the districts dress code policy at all times! No revealing clothing, straps
must be wider than 2 inches, shorts must be mid-thigh, no holey pants, no oversized
clothing, no gang related clothing, no extreme hair colors or haircuts. Mrs. Sanikian and the
entire administration team will be strictly enforcing our dress code policy. A violation of
dress code policy will result in Saturday School.

SENIORS

If you have not yet taken your senior portrait for the yearbook through Maxwell Studio and
would still like to have your picture included in the book, you must have your picture taken
by October 2, 2015. Maxwell Studio will be on campus Friday, September 25, 2015 from
8:00 am - 3:00 pm for students who have not yet taken their picture. The cost of the
picture is $17. You must sign up for an appointment time with Ms. Luviano in room 2307 at
lunch or after school beginning next week (Sept. 14) to schedule your picture. See the
attached flyer for more information.

SOCCER

All soccer players that are fundraising all order forms are due TODAY, Friday by the end of
break. Any orders not turned in will not be filled. You may turn forms into Mr. Norman in
Rm. 604 or Mr. Vivian in Rm. 1006.

FRESNO STATE

The Fresno State Ambassador will start coming to Selma High School every Wednesday. If
you have any questions regarding Fresno State please sign up in the Student Office.
The Book Fair is here in the library!! Today is the last day stop by and see all the Books,
Posters and accessories! The Book Fair will be open before school 7:30 am 8:00 am,
Lunch time and after school till 4:00pm.

ROTC

Congratulations to Selma HS MCJROTC: In recognition of exemplary performance during the


previous 12 months, Selma High School MCJROTC Program has been selected as the top
Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Program in Region Three. The Marine
Corps Reserve Association awarded is presented to the most well rounded program and this
distinction is bestowed upon your MCJROTC unit for the 2014-15 school year.
Congratulations to Cadet Major Lizbeth Estrada for your selection for the Legion of Valor
Bronze Cross for Achievement Award as the top cadet in Region Three. Cadet Major
Lizabeth Estrada will be the units commanding officer at the beginning of next year. She is
a 4.0 student involved in numerous extracurricular activities and community service events.

AERIES PORTAL
ACCOUNTS

Are you able to log in to the Aeries portal and check your grades? If not don't wait for your
teacher to tell you your grades, create an account. ALL students will receive an email Friday
with the information needed to create an account to check your grades. Look for that email
and don't wait! If you already have a portal account you do not need to create another one.

JUNIORS

If you would like to be involved in the Junior class homecoming skit there will be a meeting
on Monday, September 14th at lunch in room 1507. Grab your lunch and head to room 1507.

ALL STUDENTS

How would you like to win a pizza party and Costco cake in your 4th period class??? Well
here is your chance!!!! Our annual College Board Decorating Contest is here and September
30th is our judging day. Talk to your period 4 teachers today about a University, College,
Trade/Technical School your class will display for this competition. If you have any more
questions about this amazing activity see or e-mail Ms. Vzquez (nvazquez@selmausd.org),
9th grade Learning Director!!!

HOMECOMING
NOMINEES

Attention all Homecoming Court Nominees: Please pick up your Homecoming Nominee
application in room 1005 during lunch as soon as possible. It is due on Monday, September
14! There will be a meeting for all nominees on Wednesday, September 16 after tutorial in
room 1005 at 12:45.

LIBRARY

Studies show that children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform
better in school. September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when the Selma High
School library joins with the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to
make sure that every student has the most important school supply of all a free library
card. Don't have a San Joaquin Valley library card already, stop by your Selma high library
today to pick up an application.

ALL STUDENTS

Attention SHS, in honor of Mexican Independence Day, the Foreign Language Dept. is
putting on their annual "Grito" competition on Friday September 18th during lunch. If you
would like to participate, just show up at the quad during lunch and get ready to yell your
lungs out! Cash prizes will be awarded!!! So come join us and enjoy the yelling and the
music!

WALK HOME

SHS Students, the walk home passes are ready for pickup. The approved list of students
will be posted on the student office window. Students can pick up their walk home pass
at break, lunch or after school at the student office window with Mr. Reyna. You will need
your ID to pick up your pass. The privilege cards are still being processed and are not
ready at this time.

CELL PHONES &


IPODS

Please be respectful of the NO cell phone & IPOD rule from 8 AM 3:30 PM. If your cell
phone is confiscated; A Parent/guardian must come to Selma High to pick up the item. No
excuses. Please be respectful of the Selma High School Rules.

SCHOOL RULES

All school rules will be enforced effective beginning the first day of school (Dress code,
No gum, No profanity, No harassment, No cell phones and No inappropriate material). All
students must have their student IDs with them while on campus or at any school activity.
Students are reminded that the Selma Unified Dress Code applies to all after school events
throughout the year. Students will not be admitted if violating the district dress code.

SAT/ACT FEE
WAIVER

Seniors if you need a fee waiver for the SAT or ACT Isaac Reyna in the counseling office will
be issuing them. Remember if you are going to apply to a 4 year college or university you
MUST have your SAT/ACT taken by December 2015. Dont wait until the last minute to
register for your test
