PRE-COP21 LA FRANCE SENGAGE POUR LE CLIMAT

10 September - the French government hosted a pre-COP21 event at the Palais de lElyses in Paris
The event was meant to show the French governments strength and unitedness prior to the climate conference and
gathered ministers, business leaders and hundreds of NGO representatives
Stated by Manuel Valls during the event: The French government will no longer support, and immediately stop
subsidies to, overseas coal plants and exports
They will instead support renewable energies
Alstom, the main coal exporter, is one of the companies affected since their coal sector accounts for 5% of their
revenue and about 1000 employees

FRENCH TECH IN ISRAEL

The French minister of economy, Emmanuel Macron, visited this week the DLD Innovation Festival in Tel Aviv, Israel
Accompanied by 50 companies and leading institutions (BpiFrance, Business France)
According to Macron, France is in a changing phase much thanks to its start-ups. He also suggests that the efforts of
financing start-ups should more than double
Macron announced by the end of the conference that an international innovation festival will be held in Paris during
2016, as innovation is one of Frances priority areas for national growth, according to Macron
The visit also led to a partnership between French cole Polytchnique and Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, in
the form of a tech-hub of 20 French start-ups in Israel

SWEDEN: IKEA BREAKS RECORDS IN SALES

IKEA reported this week an increase of
11% of its turnover during the year 2014-2015
5,9 % 2013-2014
The increase corresponds to 31.9 million euro, which is a record in the sales
history of IKEA
The increase is primarily related to rapid growth in China, followed by
Russia. Within Europe, record growth was measured in Germany.
Future strategy implies focus on online-sales and opening new stores in
emerging markets like India
As COP21 approaches IKEA also announced that they are now investing
1 billion euro to accelerate the transition towards a low carbon economy and
to support communities most affected by the climate change
