In what concrete ways are you living your faith

through service to others?

The Latin word for sacrifice literally means, to make holy.

Jesus in his holiness suffered much. He has complete faith in God,
His Father. Am I willing to carry my cross daily and follow Jesus to
the Father? Can I echo the words of Isaiah, I have not rebelled,
have not turned back?

Would you like to become Catholic? Are you

interested in learning more about Catholicism,
but not sure youre ready to fully join the
Catholic faith community? Are you a baptized
Catholic who never received First Communion
and Confirmation? Then the RCIA process is
for you! RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
Classes will be held Wednesday evenings 7:00-9:00 pm
beginning September 16. Please contact Marti Salas at

volunteer as part of the RCIA team.

Adult confirmation prep

Confirmation classes for those who have graduated

from high school will be held Sunday evenings
from 6:30-7:30 pm, beginning September 27.
To participate, you must be a baptized Catholic who
has received First Communion. The Confirmation
class calendar can be found online at:

register and turn in a copy of your baptism certificate as soon as

Come join a group of volunteers who make people

happy! On Sunday mornings we carpool to our
sister community at the Austin State Supported
Living Center (a residential facility for people who
have an intellectual or developmental disability).
We accompany residents to a Catholic prayer service we hold
there. Many of these folks are in wheelchairs and could not come to
church without us. For more information, please sign up at the

A Word from Our Ministry Team

50th anniversary celebration

This Thursday evening, September 17th, we will

celebrate 50 years of Catholic campus ministry to
the University of Texas from our current
location. The original building was dedicated in
1965 and has since been remodeled into the
building we have today.
While our tables are sold out for our evening gala dinner at the
AT&T Conference Center, everyone is invited to join us for the
50th Anniversary Mass at 5:30 pm followed by a social in the
Atrium. Our Mass will be presided over by our Paulist President,
Fr. Eric Andrews, CSP.
The evening is not only about celebrating the last 50 years of
ministry but looking towards the growth of our ministry over the
next 50 years. To meet the ever-growing needs of our ministry,
the funds raised from this celebration will be used to support the
hiring of an additional campus minister who will focus on spiritual
direction and discernment opportunities for our students. Br. Rob
Clark will be this second campus minister and will also be present
for our celebration. He will join us full time in November. So buy
raffle tickets for great prizes or make a donation online to help us
reach our financial goal of supporting the hiring of Br. Rob, and
join us on Thursday evening for the Mass and social!

Ethics & Integrity in Ministry (EIM)

Serving in ministry at the UCC?

By order of the Bishop, anyone serving in a

ministry that works with children or vulnerable
adults must be certified by the office for Ethics and
Integrity in Ministry (EIM). To be certified,
you must submit an online application to the
Diocese and attend a 3-hour Basic workshop.
Those who have already been certified must also
attend a 1.5 hour Refresher workshop every three years in order
to maintain their certification. Please note that the UCC will host
one of each type of workshop every Fall and Spring semester.
To register and to learn more, visit the Diocese of Austin
webpage and click on EIM Workshops under the Quick Links
tab. You may attend ANY available workshop in the Dioceseyou
do not need to attend those offered by the UCC. If you have any

Apply for longhorn awakening 59!

Longhorn Awakening is a weekend retreat

for students who want to grow in faith and
fellowship alongside other young adult
Christians.
When: October 16-18
Where: Eagles Wings Retreat Center in
Burnet, TX (just outside Austindont
worry, we carpool!).

Retreatant applications are open until October 6th.

A $55 fee is required to attend, which will cover sleeping
accommodations, food for the entire weekend, and a t-shirt.
