Early Release

Star of the Week

Ayoub Al Ayoubi

Each week we will celebrate a student in the

classroom for who they are. This has nothing
to do with behavior, we are just celebrating
the fact that they are important to our
classroom community.

Dear Families,
Thank you to those who were able to come to Back to School night this week. On
Thursday this week every grade level will be wearing a particular color. The 2nd Grade
color is yellow. Please have your child wear a yellow shirt on Thursday. Thanks!

Literacy

Ask who, what, when, where, how, and why questions while
reading a story (Suggested questions on the blog under
Helpful Questions for Reading tab)
Begin to use collective nouns in speech and writing (ex: herd,
swarm, team)

Ways to help at home: Have your child read nightly and then tell
you who is in the story and what did they do, where did they do it
and most importantly why did they do it

Math

Place Value
Skip Counting by 5s, 10s, and 100s up to 1000

Ways to help at home: Have your child count a collection of

something (beans, legos, etc.) in groups of 5s, 10s, and 100s

Unit

Communities
Citizens

Ways to help at home: Have your child write down and name all of
the communities that they are part of (ie: family, classroom,
school, neighborhood)

Our class is in the process of building our community here at school.

Every student is an important part of our community. Please discuss at
home their responsibilities within our classroom and school community.
Thank you!
