The three ascensions?

In this study , I seek to clarify somethings concerning the events of the cross, the ressurection, and finally
Christ' ascension to the right hand of the Father, which happened just before the day of Pentecost.
I am going to be speaking on certain things that happened, within that time frame.
Many, concerning this time frame (from the cross, to the sending back of the Holy Ghost), believe that there
was only one ascension that took place, and than yet others believe that there were 2 ascensions, or in some
cases 3.
Which of these views is true?
And how do people judge doctrines?
Most people do not judge (in a truthful manner) doctrines solely by the word of God, but rather, they judge
doctrines, wether they be true or false, simply by what people say.
Many are caught up, in what I call, "the traditions of men", and yet others are caught up in this type of
judgment, to were, because this person said so, then that doctrine is false.
No I do not believe in the faith movement, because that movement is not of God, it is apostate, but just
because it is a false movement, and they are apostate, does that mean that they have no truth whatsoever?
Well of course not, for you need some amount of truth, in order for people to believe a lie.
Even cults have some amount of truth, but that in itself does not justify the cult as being of God, nor does it
justify the faith movement as being of God.
But even thaugh that is true, let us always judge each doctrine, solely by the word of God.
Many are caught up in a trap of deception, concerning judging a doctrine to be false or not.
I think another popular judgment, concerning wether a doctrine is true or not is :" well it must be true,
preachers have been preaching this for years".
Maybe they have been preaching the right doctrine for years, but then again, maybe they have been
preaching a false doctrine for years?
Do not judge a doctrine, by the amount of years it has been preached, but rather judge a doctrine wether it is
false or not, solely by the word of God, period.
Now here is my first question, concerning the doctrines that I am going to cover, "was the blood applied, in
the heavenly altar in Heaven?"
Well, here is another question, "did Christ have to fully fulfil the law, or only partially fulfill the law?"
Well let us start with Leviticus 4:22-35.

-2-

Leviticus 4:22-35.
( 22 When a ruler hath sinned, and done somewhat through ignorance against any of the commandments of
the LORD his God concerning things which should not be done, and is guilty;
23 Or if his sin, wherein he hath sinned, come to his knowledge; he shall bring his offering, a kid of the goats,
a male without blemish:
24 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the goat, and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt
offering before the LORD: it is a sin offering. 25 And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with
his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out his blood at the bottom of
the altar of burnt offering.
26 And he shall burn all his fat upon the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings: and the priest shall
make an atonement for him as concerning his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.
27 And if any one of the common people sin through ignorance, while he doeth somewhat against any of the
commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and be guilty;
28 Or if his sin, which he hath sinned, come to his knowledge: then he shall bring his offering, a kid of the
goats, a female without blemish, for his sin which he hath sinned.
29 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slay the sin offering in the place of the
burnt offering.
30 And the priest shall take of the blood thereof with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt
offering, and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar.
31 And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat is taken away from off the sacrifice of peace offerings;
and the priest shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savor unto the LORD; and the priest shall make an
atonement for him, and it shall be forgiven him.
32 And if he bring a lamb for a sin offering, he shall bring it a female without blemish.
33 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slay it for a sin offering in the place where
they kill the burnt offering.
34 And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the
altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar:
35 And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of the
peace offerings; and the priest shall burn them upon the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto the
LORD: and the priest shall make an atonement for his sin that he hath committed, and it shall be forgiven
him.)
Now it mentions how that the person who sinned, had to sacrifice a lamb or goat, then the priest would take,
just a little portion of the blood with his finger, and sprinkle it on the altar, and only afterwards did the rest of
the blood get taken out, out of the animals body, at the bottom of the altar.
Well in a similar manner, is that what happened at the cross?
Did Jesus have to do , the same thing as an old testament priest, in sprinkling blood at the altar?
Well let us go to Hebrews and see.
Hebrews 9:1-14.
(1 Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.
2 For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread;
which is called the sanctuary.

-3-

3 And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; 4 Which had the golden censer,
and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and
Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
5 And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.
6 Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing
the service of God.
7 But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for
himself, and for the errors of the people:
8 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the
first tabernacle was yet standing:
9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not
make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until
the time of reformation.
11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle,
not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place,
having obtained eternal redemption for us.
13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the
purifying of the flesh:
14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to
God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?)
If you read the context of these scriptures, it is talking about blood.
Jesus had to do what a earthly high priest had to do, which was, after his death (the sacrifice), he had to go
to the Heavenly throne to sprinkle his own blood upon the Heavenly altar.
The earthly high priest did so on an earthly altar, but Hebrews 9:12, shows us that Jesus went to the
Heavenly altar, by his own blood.
Another scripture that shows us, this very same event is found in Hebrews 9:24.
Right now I will quote Hebrews 9:15-28, so we can get the context of this scripture.

(15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of
the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of
eternal inheritance.
16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.
19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of
calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the
people,
20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.
21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.
22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the

-4-

heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into
heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with
blood of others;
26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the
world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the
second time without sin unto salvation.)
So let us go back to the order of things.
What first occured?
It was a sacrifice.
In the case of old testament people, they had to sacrifice an animal (goat or lamb).
Leviticus 4:32-33.
(32 And if he bring a lamb for a sin offering, he shall bring it a female without blemish.
33 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slay it for a sin offering in the place where
they kill the burnt offering.)
In the case of Christ, he gave himself as a sacrifice for us.
Mark15:24-26.
(24 And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man
should take.
25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
26 And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.)
The next step, after the sacrifice, was for the priest to take with his finger, only a little portion of the animals
blood, and then sprinkle this little portion of blood, on the altar.
Leviticus 4:34.
(34 And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the
altar of burnt offering,....)
Well Jesus right after his physical death, went by his blood (Hebrews 9:12 ... but by his own blood he
entered in once into the holy place...), with a portion of his blood, and sprinkled it on the Heavenly altar.
He only needed a portion of his blood to sprinkle on the Heavenly altar, so's the sins of the whole world
could be forgiven!!!!!!!
Now the next step for the priest ,was to pour out the rest of the blood of the animal, at the bottom of the
altar and not on the altar.

-5-

Leviticus 4:34.
(.....and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar:)
Well what happened on Christ's side of things? Well the rest of the blood of his body was poured out of his
body.
John 19:33-34.
(33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.)
So in between the time that Christ was crucified, and Christ's body was pierced to the side, that is when
Jesus went to the Heavenly altar to sprinkle the blood, for that is the order that the priest had to take,
therefore that was the order Jesus took, for he was the fulfillement of the law!!!!!!
So here was the first Heavenly ascension that took place.
Some may say " well that is your interpretation of things", and "that weird preacher on tv preaches this", well
I must ask, was Jesus the fulfillement of the law? And can God lie?
Obviously, God cannot lie and we have covered scriptures that prove my point to a t.
So there was more than just one Heavenly ascension.
The question I must ask now, is, is was there more than 2 ascensions, in between the crucifixion and the
sending back of the Holy Ghost?
Well let us go unto John 20:15-17.
(15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the
gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take
him away.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and
say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.)
The key word here, is "touch me not".
Now this was on the first day of the week, that he appeared unto Mary, which was when he rose from the
dead.
Here he was saying to Mary, "touch me not for I am not yet ascended to my Father".
And yet, on this same day, he said this to his disciples, Luke24:39.
(39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones,
as ye see me have.)

-6-

I checked what handle me in the Greek meant, and it literally means: "touch me".
So Jesus obviously ascended one more time here, for he said to Mary "touch me not", yet later on this same
day, he said to his disciples "handle me" , which means he obviously ascended a second time here.
And also for more proof, that he ascended a second time here, even before the final ascension, is found in
John 20:26-27.
(26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors
being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and
thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.)
So now, I must ask, why was Jesus ascending this time around?
I truly believe it was so's to bring back the living word to the Father, and Revelation 12:11 says this:
(11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved
not their lives unto the death.)
That is how we overcome Satan on a daily basis, but notice it mentions the blood first, and then the word
second.
What I truly believe and have absolutely no doubts about is this, that Jesus was first crucified on the cross,
and died physically on the cross (and no, he never ever died spiritually); secondly he went to Heaven to
sprinkle a portion of his blood, on the Heavenly altar; and afterwards, on earth, the side of his body was
pierced and let out the rest of his blood from his body.
Now on the spiritual side of things after he spinkled the blood on the Heavenly altar, he went by his spirit, to
preach (and not to die spiritually) to the spirits in prison which was done so to the people of Noahs day who
did not put their trust in God, which had to be in hell of course (1 Peter3:18-22), and then afterwards he
went to preach to the people in Paradise, which were to be judge according to what they did in the flesh, but
would live according to God in the spirit (1 Peter 4:1-6).
Now after this was done, he appeared to Mary, and said "touch me not, I am not yet ascended to the
Father".
Yet on this same day, the disciples were now able to touch him, which meant that he had ascended to the
Father, and after his ascension to the Father, so to bring back the word, then, and only then did the people in
Paradise, get raised from the dead, and go to Heaven.
The bringing the blood and the word to Heaven was finally accomplished, and now the people in Paradise,
were finally able to be born again, and go to Heaven.
But for the living people, all was not yet accomplished, therefore needing the final ascension, which would
send back the Holy Ghost, so that people could be born again, and be filled with the Spirit.
Now under the old covenant, there was a time to were they had to count fifty days, which the 50th day was
the day of Pentecost.

-7-

Pentecost means "fiftieth". Now if you count from Christ's resurrection, unto the day of Pentecost, you count
fifty days, which the first day is the resurrection, which 8 days later, he seen Thomas, which adds to 9 days,
and then Christ was seen for 40 days strait, which adds to 49 days, and then we get to the day of Pentecost,
which is the 50th day.
Well the last ascension happened just before the day of Pentecost.
Acts 1:8-11.
(8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me
both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of
their sight.
10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white
apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken
up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.)
And of course, on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Ghost was sent.
So we have learned that there was not just 1 ascension that took place between the crucifixion and the day
of Pentecost, but rather 3, and the number 3 seems to appear often in the bible.
I pray that this study has brought confusion out of your mind concerning the events of the cross, resurrection
etc.
I pray that you dwelve even further than I have here, and mostly pray that this will give you a clearer
understanding of the scriptures and cause you to grow.
Amen!
