MALIN KUNDANG
Once upon a time, on the West coast of Sumatra, there was a boy named Malin Kundang.
He lived with his mother, they were very poor. They earned money as a fisherman helper.
Malin Kundang grew up as a smart boy and he always helped his mother.
One day Malin asked his mother, Mother, What if I sail overseas?, I cannot stay and
always be a poor man His mother didnt agree but she had made up her mind. If you
really want to go, I cant stop you my son. On the next day, Malin was ready to go with a
rich ships crew. Mother, I have to leave now, take a good care! His mother hugged him
tight and said, Its hard to let you go, God bless you my son!
It has been a year Malin left his mother and never sent any news, but his mother kept
waiting and praying for her son. Till someday his mother was shocked there was a big ship
arrived in the pier where she usually waited for her son.
She was very surprised. when suddenly she saw the man was stepping down the leader
along with a beautiful woman. Malins mother could not be wrong; he must be Malin, her
son. She came and ran to hug Malin: Malin, youre back son, I miss you so much But,
Malin was so angry, What!!. Youre not my mother, you just a poor women, just get out
here!!! And Malins wife said: Huhh, bad smelt.go..go..go!
She cried and cried when the bodyguard dragged and get her away.

When she saw the ship was leaving the pier, while crying she prayed to the God, Dear
God, if he is not my son, let him have a nice voyage., but if he is, I cursed him become a

The storm wrecked Malins ship fast. And Malin cried up, Somebody help..help..! Malin
thrown out and felt on a small island and his whole body turn into a stone. He was
