***
I'm Past Grand Knight of St. Anastasia Knights of Columbus council #5911 in Douglaston and Chairman of Vocations for St. Anastasia parish. Now I think we need to light
the spark for vocations. Now let me point out that we
need to increase vocations to the priesthood for there is a
great shortage and it will become more serious as time
goes on. We have two very find seminaries on Long Island, one in Douglaston and the other in Huntington
where our priests finish their studies and turn out most
dedicated priests. Here is something to think about and
that our priests are the integral part of the Eucharist and
without the Eucharist we have no church as well as no
Knights of Columbus. The answer in part is praying for
vocations but we also need to inspire our youth to consider religious life. If we see a young person who lives an
upright life and conducts himself in the faith, we should
ask him if he ever considered being a priest. This could
act as a spark that might light the spark to become a
priest. We need to be active in recruiting the best of our
youth to consider religious vocations. For remember Matthew 9:37-38: "The harvest is abundant but the laborers
are few. So ask the master of the harvest to send out the
laborers for the harvest."
Frederick R. Bedell, Jr.

St. Anastasia Bulletin informs our community about

news and events in our parish, cluster and neighborhood and in a special way unites us as parishioners.
However, there are so many things we could publish if
we just shared with others our knowledge, passion or
sometimes hobbies. You dont have to be a doctor, realtor or lawyer to publish very useful issues. If you like to
read, travel or just dine out you can share with us
what you find interesting, inspiring or simply yummy. If
you are interested in contributing to our Bulletin in any
shape or form, call Fr. Chris at (718) 631-4454 or email
