1. Abstract of Kidney cancer:

The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs, approximately size of a fist. Main
job of kidney is to clean blood, remove waste that gets converted into urine.
After the blood filtration by filters called nephrons, it goes to the rest of the
body through the renal vein.
The kidneys help to maintain blood pressure in the body and to control the
balance of fluid, salt and minerals.
Kidney cancer also known as renal cancer, where the kidney cells become
malignant (cancerous) and grow out of control, leading to a tumor. Cancers
diagnosed at early stage are easier to treat successfully. Tumors might grow
quite large before they are detected.
Because doctors don't know the causes of kidney cancer, certain factors are
linked to kidney cancer, so steps can be taken to lower your risk like quit
smoking, maintain a healthy weight, manage your blood pressure, and
avoid being exposed to harmful chemicals.

2. Signs & Symptoms of Kidney cancer

In many cases, there are no early symptoms of kidney cancer. They appear
only when tumor increases in size:

A lump in your side or abdomen

A loss of appetite

A pain in your side that doesn't go away

Weight loss that occurs for no known reason

Fever that lasts for weeks and isn't caused by a cold or other infection

Extreme fatigue

Anemia

Swelling in your ankles or legs

Blood in the urine

Kidney cancer that spreads to other parts of your body may cause other
symptoms, such as:

Shortness of breath

Coughing up blood

Bone pain

3. Diagnosis and treatments

Once your doctor makes a diagnosis of kidney cancer, tests are done to tell
if the cancer has spread within your kidney, to the other kidney, or to other
parts of your body. You need a CT scan or MRI. A chest X-ray will show
cancer has spread to your lungs or not. Tests will help determine the stage
of cancer.
Surgery for kidney cancer:
Type of surgery for kidney cancer depends on stage of cancer is.
Radical nephrectomy It is the most common surgery for kidney
cancer.
Simple nephrectomy removes the kidney only.
Partial nephrectomy This procedure is used for patients with
smaller tumors or in those patients in which a radical nephrectomy
might hurt the other kidney.
If surgery can't destroy your kidney cancer, your doctor might give another
option to destroy the tumor.

Cryotherapy uses severe cold to kill the tumor.

Radiofrequency ablation uses high-energy radio waves to "cook"

the tumor.

Arterial embolization includes inserting material into an artery

that leads to the kidney.

When kidney cancer has spread outside the kidney and to rest of the parts
of the body, the treatment targeted is therapy. Occasionally radiotherapy,
hormonal therapy or chemotherapy treatment is used.
