OUT establishes collaboration with the Uganda Management Institute

The Open University of Tanzania has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with
the Uganda Management Institute (UMI) to establish collaboration between the two
institutions.
The MoU was signed by the OUT Vice Chancellor Professor Elifas Tozo Bisanda and the
Director General of UMI Dr. James L. Nkata in a ceremony that was held at the OUT
Temporary Headquartes in Kinondoni Dar es Salaam in early September.
The OUT witness was Ms. Nelly G. Mwasongwe, the Secretary to Council while on the side of
UMI the witness was Dr. Saturninus Kasozi-Mulindwa, the Director of Programmes and
Students Affairs.
The collaboration between OUT and UMI is intended to be of five years focusing on capacity
building activities and improvement of skills development. Special emphasis will be given on
the fields related to delivery of open and distance education, ICT undergraduate studies,
postgraduate studies, collaborative research and publications, collaborative consultancy
services as well as staff and students exchange programmes. The two institutions will also
work together to host each others programmes in the hosts country.
The signing ceremony was concluded by the OUT Management and the UMI
Representatives having lunch together at the Slipway Hotel.
