INTER-FACULTY GAMES
The Tan Chorh Chuan Challenge Trophy

GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS


1

TITLE
The name of the games series shall be known as the NUS Inter-Faculty Games.

OBJECTIVES
2.1
To foster our common NUS spirit and identity through interactive participation in sports.
2.2
To achieve a healthy lifestyle through active participation in semi-competitive sports.
2.3
To expose participants to a wide variety of sports in a semi-competitive environment.

SCHEDULE
The IFG shall be held annually during a period as decided by the IFG Council consisting of the Sports &
Recreation Centre (SRC), NUS Students Sports Club (NUSSU) and the Sports Directors from the
participating NUS faculties.

ELIGIBILITY
Matriculated students & staff from the following NUS faculties, full-time or part-time, are eligible to
participate and shall only represent their own faculty. Current Student Varsity Players may represent their
faculty as a team manager but not as a player for their particular sport. The list of current Student Varsity
Players is available from SRC. In addition, all participants of water sports must be able to swim 50 meters
unaided. Where a student is under the University Scholars Program, he/she shall represent USP. He/she
may however represent his/her home faculty if USP does not submit a team for a particular sport.

ENTRIES
5.1
All registrations must be done through the respective Faculty Sports Directors.
5.2
Respective Faculty Sports Directors must confirm participation by submitting the Confirmation
of Participation Form to SRC before the stipulated deadline found on the form.
5.3
Respective Faculty Sports Directors must submit Team Registration Form for each sport to
SRC at least 7 days before the commencement of the competition. Team Registration Form must
be typewritten.
5.4
If the number of players and team managers submitted exceeds the maximum number allowed
per team, the extra names will automatically be removed by SRC without notice to the players or
team managers.
5.5
Any event with less than 6 participating faculties shall not be convened.

PRIZES
Prizes shall be awarded to the players and team managers of the top 3 teams of each sport. In addition,
the champion team shall be awarded a champion trophy.

OVERALL IFG CHAMPION


The Tan Chorh Chuan Challenge Trophy will be awarded to the faculty who wins the overall IFG
Championship based on the following points system:

In the event of a tie, the match results of all sports played between these 2 faculties will be compared.
The faculty with the higher number of wins during these matches will be declared the winner.

JERSEYS
Whenever there is a clash in the colour of the team jerseys, the first named team shall change the colour
of their jerseys or use the bibs provided.

INDEMNITY
The IFG Council, hosting faculties and/or its appointed officials shall not be held responsible for any injury
or death to any player or official during, or as a result of his/her participation in the games.

OFFICIAL RESULTS
Faculty hosts shall send the official results in the official format to SRC, NUSSU and all Faculty
Secretaries the day immediately after the completion of that game. Where the game is held on IFG finale
day, the results shall be announced at the final prize presentation.

GENERAL RULES
11.1
Any team which fails to abide by the decision of the referee or refuses to continue with
the match shall be considered as giving a walk-over.
11.2
All teams shall be punctual on the day of play. Any team which arrives late (15 minutes grace
period) or is unable to field the minimum number of player shall be considered as giving a
walkover.
11.3
Disqualification can occur when a team fields a player who is not a matriculated student, staff
and/or a Varsity Athlete from NUS. Team managers may play if they fulfil the abovementioned
conditions and that they take up one slot on the registration form in both the Team Manager and
Player slot, if they will be considered as ineligible players and disqualification can occur.
11.4
With the approval of the Council, the hosting faculty may amend any portion of the game rules if
deemed necessary.
11.5
All matters not provided for in these Rules shall be dealt with by the Council whose decision is
final.
