Just becareful bro.

List down what you supposed to do before you decided to buy a used
car. After this round of bad experience, i can advise buyers to prepare as below to avoid
facing the same mistakes as me:
1. Shortlist the cars according to your requirements.

2. Screen shots and print them out.

3. Check out all the car prices of your wanted model and the year.

4. Get the car dealers to show you the vehicle log-card so that you will know all
information including number of owners. Then test drive and listen to any unusual
sound within the cockpit.

5. Don't rush to buy a used car. Especially when the dealer said "oh, there is somebody
looking at the same car. If you dont want, they will take it.". This sentence has been
used by the dealers for decades.

6. Get as much discount from them as possible on the used car. Don't be shy, cut down
at least 10% from their stated price. If you have a car to trade in, know the market
selling price first before you let go.

7. No way to know if the mileage has been altered. If it met an accident. An experience
mechanic will be able to tell after inspecting it. So, send the car for inspection and STAY
beside the vehicle during the entire process. While the mechanic jack-up the car, check
every part of the body for defects, especially underneath the vehicle. Then see internal
for cockpit damage and other cosmetic work. For engine, gearbox and other important

parts, leave it to your trusted mechanic. Anyway, under Singapore lemon law, used car
dealer has to give you at least 6 months warranty but ALWAYS ask for 1 year. However,
there is always a catch with the warranty given by the car dealers........ it will be a
workshop and you have to send your car to this workshop for servicing in order to
continue the warranty. It will be voided if you do not do so.

8. After pointing the defects, take photos and get them to write down on their WORKS
ORDER sheet and you keep a copy. Make sure their works order sheet is under their
company letter head.

9. For loan, finance company and insurance for your used car, INSISIT of using your own
contacts if what they quoted are higher than yours. Check interest rate of the loan
facility you are getting. Every 0.1% will make a difference that you have to pay. Check
how comprehensive your insurance can cover like excess amount, allow how many
drivers, designated workshops etc.

10. Ask the car dealer what are the paper work involved and are they able to settle all
for you..... especially you are retaining your old license plate.

I may have missed out certain details. If you want to know more information, you can
leave your questions here and we can discuss. It is better to shared our experience and
information here than to have someone encountering the same unfortunate incident.
