Circle time /
presentation

1) Welcome your class by saying Hello several times. Point to yourself


and say: Im Beln. Say Hello to every child showing you are pleased
if they say the same.
2) Introduce children: Go round the class greeting individual children.
Approach them saying Hello, Im and give your name. Encourage
them to respond with Hello, Im Laura.
3) Hello song. Play it two times. (NORMALMENTE LA CANCIN VA EN
EL APARTADO HELLO, PERO COMO SE LA TENDR QUE ENSEAR, LA
INCLUYO AQU HOY COMO PRIMER DA)
4) Introduce characters: Hold a flashcard of one of the characters in
front of your face. As you stand behind the card, pretend to be that
character and introduce yourself saying: Hello, Im (Sam). Then turn
the card over to face you and greet the character with Hello, Sam.
Finally, as you put the characters flashcards away say: Goodbye
Sam, Goodbye Linda, etc.
5) Yes! No! Pin up the flashcards and present the characters: This
is_____ The pupils repeat after you. Then, point and say: This is___

6) Wheres Cookie? Say and demonstrate Close your eyes. Then ask
the children to close their eyes. Hide the puppet somewhere near
you, but leave a little of him showing (or place it in some obvious
place). Pretend to look around the room saying Wheres (name of
the puppet)? Encourage the children to point to him. Put on the
puppet again and say Hello, ______ to him. Repeat this several times.
After a few turns, hide him further away.
7) Storytime: Choose one.
7) Who am I? The pupils sit in a circle. Explain the activity. One of the
pupils sits in the centre and close his/her eyes. Choose a pupil to say:
Hello, (Tina). The pupil in the centre has to guess who it is and respond
by saying Hello, (Kelly). If Tina guesses correctly, Kelly goes in the
centre. If not, they must try with another person of the circle.
8) Some actions: Say that the puppet (say his name) is going to show
them some actions. Let him say and demonstrate Stand up, Stretch,
Sit down, Wave, Skip. As he does the actions, encourage the children
to copy them and join in.
9) Greeting each other: Using had movements, indicate to the class
that you want them to stand up. Choose two children and put them
facing each other to demonstrate the activity. Crouch behind one
child and greet his / her classmate by name. The crouch behind the
other child and respond in the same way. Act as if you are the
children talking. Say Hello Im Juan. Hello, Im Mara. Ask the children
to go round greeting each other and introducing themselves.

To calm down children before worksheet:

Lets make a train. Give your hand to the children nearest to you and lead
them by the hand dropping them off at their seats.
Quiet routine:
Shhh! (hold your index finger to your lips)
Be Quiet like a mouse. (pretend to be a mouse)
In a little treehouse. (make a roof shape with your hands, over
your head)
Practice this rhyme two or three times the first day, so the
children can learn it. You can use it to calm them down when its
time to worksheet work.

10) Say the instructions twice as you mime them. Ask the pupils to cut
out the stick puppets. Provide any necessary help. With the help of a
pupil show this short dialogue:
Teacher: Hello Im Pluto (or whoever the puppet is).
Pupil: Hello, Im Goofy (same as above).
The pupils choose a character and go around the class meeting and
greeting the rest of the characters.
