SECTION B : Summary Writing

[10 marks]

Read the passage below and answer the question that follows.
Students always look forward to the holidays. They welcome the holidays
with joy. Even the shyest student is excited when a holiday is announced.
Studies show that regular periods of rest are necessary as the students
mental and physical health would be affected without it. As the saying goes, All
work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
A short holiday will refresh the students bodies and minds and help them
come back to school with new energy. A holiday also gives the students a chance
to pursue their hobbies and interests without anyone nagging them about
homework or assignments. Some of the weaker students even use the holidays to
catch up on their studies and schoolwork.
Sometimes, however, holidays which are too long can also be bad for some
students as they may get bored and restless. They might fight with their brothers
and sisters or might end up watching television all day and this could make them
lazy and listless. When these students go back to school, they may be tired and
uninterested. For such students, the holidays may have caused more harm than
good.

Write a summary on the positive and negative effects of holidays on students.

Your summary must:
