Discussion: The Ventura County Cultural Heritage Board held a public hearing on October 25, 1993 in accordance with the Ventura County Cultural Heritage Ordinance, to consider recommending that the Fillmore Sign at the N.E. corner of Highway 126 and Central Avenue, Fillmore, be declared Ventura County Historical Landmark No. 151. At the conclusion of the public hearing, it was determined that the Fillmore Sign does meet the criteria of the County Ordinance code, and a Cultural Heritage Board Resolution declaring the sign Ventura County Historical Landmark No. 151 was signed (enclosed). The Board recommends that the Fillmore City Council officially declare the sign Ventura County Historical Landmark No. 151 by signing the enclosed Resolution. The sign is a thin vertical rectangle which is rounded at the top and bottom with 2 curved arch extending across the top. There is an arrow that goes through the sign at the bottom and points to the downtown. The name, "Fillmore", is spelled out in neon letters--12 inches with white neon tubing. ‘The neon flourescent tubing were gold for vertical tubes; green for 3 lubers at top of sign; green tubes for arrow on bottom.
