In what concrete ways are you living your faith

through service to others?

Biblical wisdom is to recognize God as the true source and

fulfillment of all. Things are temporary and fleeting. Have we
allowed Gods word to penetrate us? Do we really rely upon God
entirely or do we trust in our own means? God asks us to rely on
Him completely. What possessions, relationship or practices are
we unwilling to give up to follow Christ?
Readings for the week

Our two large ficus trees (one in the atrium, one in

the alcove by stairs) need attention, so we need
someone with ficus expertise to provide advice. If
you, or someone you know, can help, please contact
Jim Shay at jrshay01@yahoo.com or 512-451-3291.

October is respect life month

During October, the St. Austin Gabriel Project

will be conducting a Baby Drive to support
women and families who have chosen life for
their babies despite difficult circumstances. We
are in need of, and graciously ask for:
diapers (newborn, size 1 & size 2) and
baby wipes. Baby items may be brought to
St. Austins office (2026 Guadalupe Street) throughout October.

Around the Diocese

Fr. Isaac Hecker Quote
[The members of new Religious Institutions]
will welcome all new truths in every branch of
knowledge; for although the theologian and the
natural philosopher do not investigate the things
of nature in the same aspect, yet the study of
created things fortifies faith and aids in the
destruction of errors concerning God. (See St.
Thomas, bk. Ii, ch. 3, 4, vol. 1, Contra
Gentiles.) How can it be otherwise? Is not all Fr. Isaac Hecker, Founder
of the Paulist Fathers
true light from on high? All truth one? All
knowledge sacred? The study of Nature is
also the study of God.
[On the Mission of New Religious Communities, 1876]
If you have asked Fr. Hecker to pray for you or for
another person who was ill, and you believe something
miraculous has happened, call Fr. Paul Robichaud,
CSP, at (202) 269-2519 and tell him your story.
